Compiling Modules against PBO kernel

Has anyone that used the mipsel compiling setups built any modules against the kernel that the rtk delvelopment uses? I'd like a little information if you have as I'm going to attempt to build modules to add most of the generic gigabit usb adapters to the system so we can have the max thruput possible to stream anything to or from the boxes.
