Default PBO BT Client Is A Leech?

I've found that being able to download torrents directly from the PBO works great and is a big plus. However, I never see any upload stats. Is the PBO BT client designed, intentionally, to be a leech?

That's a good question, the PBO will upload as well as download but you can not set it for a specific ratio DN/UP instead you specify just how long after the download is done you wish to upload for (0-48 hours). Furthermore I notice that btpd (PBO torrent client) is not so good at reporting your upload or for it to be track by the tracker. Hence using the PBO btpd on a private tracker that expect you to keep a certain ratio is not a good idea. I have been to many site where I continued uploading for 48 hours and yet my ratio on their site did not change at all although I know I was uploading for that amount of time.

Conclusion I recommend using the PBO btpd only on public tracker vs the private one since your ratio will probably go down hill in a hurry on private torrent and you might get expelled from tracker because of poor ratio.

I disagree. I use PBO witha private site and site tsats show that my upload/download ratio has improved substantially. In fact I no longer download any torrents on comp. I always use PBO only.

I think a lot of it probably depends on your upload speed and the tracker being used. I can DN at 530 KBsec but I can only UP at 80 KBsec. It has been my experience that in most case where private tracker keeping track of ratio there are usually a lot of seeders hence you might get maybe 10Kbsec sometimes a little more goes up and down a bit but not much. Now the problem with btpd is that we can not set a ratio setting just a number of hours (max = 48 hours = 2 days). Now it might take you 1 hour to download a 1G file but a week to Upload that same amount. Well with btpd after 2 days btpd will stop uploading before you ever achieve a 1 to 1 ratio. I experience this issue with torrentleech and digitalhive; I will be curious about which private torrent you are using that have your ratio increase. Futhermore the btpd use the default torrent port 6881 which is banned by a lot of private tracker hence no upload/download. I am not saying here that is does not work I am just saying that in most cases btpd is not the best suited for private torrent tracker.

Just my 2 cents worth; I am glad it works great for you; I have not been so lucky regarding private torrent.

    Cheers!!!

Then you didn't enable BT/SAMBA from the network setup menu of the PBO.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO
