Default BT with PBO using Patriot wireless G with firmware P05 and newer

Anyone here use the PBO for bt download with the wireless G with firmware P-05 and newer successfully at decent speeds? I have P-53 and PBO crashes as download starts. for P-05, some torrents won't even start.....

I use the PBO bt client pretty much exclusively to download all my favorite TV Shows; but I seem to be the exception rather than the rule. I sometimes get 500 kBs but again this is the exception rather than the rule. 20kBs to 200 Kbs is more likely and the PBO also seems to be happy at that speed. Granted the bt client is far from perfect but it works 75% of the time. If it crash I just turn the PBO on/off and things continue on. I don't usually download big torrent anyhow since they are TV Show in the range of 170M (30 minute show 480p) to 1.19 G (1 hour show 720p).

To answer your first post I have used bt client torrent with many different firmware (PM (P02, P04) or ACRyan (4107, 4318)) with more or less the same results no matter which firmware. When the download speed / number of peers is too high the realtek processor just can keep up with it and crashes occur; especially if you are using your PBO to watch a show/movie at the same time.

EDIT: Forgot to mentioned that I use Patriot wireless G USB wifi dongle.

I do BT also but I wired the box to a wireless router set as WDS bridge instead of using a USB wifi dongle. I have no problem in running the BT client in p05, p53, and IMS p05.

    Getting off-topic a bit:
Tourist, what router is that you have set as a bridge? I'm wondering specifically if you went N or G and what kind of throughput you're getting.

I got a Rosewill RNX-N400LX for the PBO simply because it was on sale. My home network has 4 G routers in WDS bridge, so I am using the N router in G mode for WDS too. I can stream video from my NAS attached to one of the G router smoothly with a typical data transfer rate at 2000-5000. I am still experimenting the setting and the transfer rate varies depending on which router it bridged to. Anyway, my configuration is not common in a home network. I have one router set as common gateway (star configuration) that data are streamed through 3 routers.

Thanks, tourist, that is an interesting configuration. You must have a lot of nodes that need connection

All G. Gotta love it. Actually, so far as the PBO is concerned (or the FAT+ for that matter) I see no difference at all in connecting G or N, although the FAT+ (I gotta reluctantly admit) is superior in it's handling of HD throughput. Although not perfect, it's performance is more consistent, and this is with both players connected to the same bridge.

Originally, I added a second router to increase wifi coverage in my house as the main router is in the basement. Then I added more routers to provide access points in the rooms where I have printers to be shared on the network. The 5th router is the Rosewill one which I put in my AV center. I figured that it is much cheaper to get a router than getting wireless adapters for 2 devices. None of the routers (G or N) cost more than $20. Two of them are actually gifts from my friends.
Forgot to answer your question. I have two Belkin F5D7230-4 running dd-wrt and two USR5461 (all are Broadcom chip based). I did not load dd-wrt onto the USR5461s because I want to keep the built-in USB print servers.

Is it the same problem ?! the OP problem was with BT operation not with file copy.
Any way, how big are the files ?
Are you pushing files from the network or pulling files to your PBO (from the copy interface) ?
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO
