    Default Wireless environment not working

    Hi Guys/Gals,

Can you please let me know a solution for this. I tried various things but no success
    My setup is
1)PBO connected wireless with LinkSys Router
2)Win 7 Laptop connected with this router with a wire (its close to this router so wired )
    3) Another Win 7 Lappy connected wireless with the router.

Now the PBO is finding the wired lappy and everything works smoothly. But the wireless lappy is not displayed I have most of the movies in the wireless lappy and i dont want to connect it with wire.

*Interesting fact is that when i wire the 2nd lappy it is also recognised by PBO smoothly.

So the main concern is why my wireless setup is not working as i am planning to get rid of that wire

Please let me know your suggestion.

Are you browsing using NET->WORKGROUP->... etc ?
If so then try using "machine shortcuts" as outlines in the line in my signature below.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

    NET >> My Neighbours

Apart from this i can also see My Shortcuts (but never tried this)

Going to My Neighbours shows me the wired lappy but not the wireless one

Going through my neighbors is even worse then Net->Workgroup
Please try machine shortcuts first and report back.

When going thru that it asks for Net User id and password.
I have not set any of these for my lappys..What should be the values then?

Leave them empty if you have specified non on your machines, but you have to make sure anonymous login is enabled on your windows machines, refer to the Win7 sticky in the networking section (the info there is also applicable on earlier versions of windows)

Hi ..Atlast I managed to use that My ShortCut Thing...

I provided the userName(I saw something it as Rudraksha in the logs of the transcode server) kept password as blank....Entered the IP address of the lappy.

I was very happy to logon and view my folders in PBO.

But the happiness lasted few seconds as when selecting the file to play , it again asked me for the user name and password and this time I entered as Rudraksha and password as blank...it said "LOGON FAILED!!!!!!!"

I have done the reg settings and given the shared folders Read access for EveryOne group.

    HELP!!!!

To play the file it needs execute access too. Read only won't work for viewing the files over a share.

Yes exactly to the folder so it will pass that to every file placed in the folder afterwards. You have to add execute to it as well btw so you want all 3 options enabled.
