I have just got it today and everything works fine except the wireless setup
i have a trendnet tew-649UB which is recognized by the box, but some how
i just cant get it connected to my other pc wirelessly
i did make it work when connected by the lan cable
    here is what i did,
    go to network ---wireless setup
    -----connection1----choose infrastructure(AP)----
choose the name of my rounter poping up on the list press enter----
enter my shared key(WEP) so i enter the password and then press enter-------it poped up a window saying testing, it took a while---
and after that nothing show up, on the right side of wireless setup it says
On*DHCP Not Ready!! and there is a bluehighlighted status bar on the right as well
i have tried many other ways just couldnt make it work
my pc is using windowxp sp3 and all other laptop can connect it through the wireless router
anyone has any ideas of how to fix it?
    many thanks

It sounds like you're doing it right, you've entered same ssid (what you called "the password") right? Sometimes you have to reboot your router and the PBO in order for them to start communicating. Try cold booting both.

That ssid is case sensitive. Be positive you're inputting the correct characters. I know it can be frustrating. If continued testing doesn't resolve it try temporarily connecting without a ssid .. Also, your router might be set to only accept access by "allowed" clients where you might have to input the MAC address of the PBO. Check your router's wireless settings thoroughly.

Do you have DHCP enabled on your router ?
Do you have any restrictions on your router for accepting clients ? (like a MAC filter)
Is your WEP key in hexadecimal ?

WEP is that secure as we were made to think, if you have no special need for WEP then try WPA2/PSK/AES.

Also to eliminate range issues, try using the adapter on a laptop around the same place where the PBO is installed and see if you can get a connection.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

A small correction billcat, SSID isn't his password, SSID is what he sees as the router name.

his password is what he correctly identified as WEP shared key.

Absolutely, I just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same password. Thanks for clarifying that, aasoror.

1 yes, i think so, otherwise i couldnt have connected it through the lan cable

2 no, the mac filter is turned off

3 wep key is a simple 13 digits

i have to use wep because one of my other laptops wireless card only support wep
is it possible because of the trendnet's wirelesss adapter?

thanks, the router setting was all fine, i have 3 laptops and 2 desktop using various wireless adapter usb adaptor, pci adaptor, all work fine,
and i also tried this trendnet's usb on other desktop it also worked fine, so it doesnt seem to be the problem of the adaptor or router
unless the compatiblity issue of this adaptor with box

Anything is possible, as I said earlier, try adapter in one of your laptops in the same vicinity of the PBO and see how it goes from there.

Is that other desktop located in the same location where the PBO is installed, because all of this might be Wifi range issues, also make sure you have disconnected any extra USB peripherals from the PBO.
