It sound like it could be that there is something wrong with the usb dirve. Have you exchagen the usb drive to see if a different one does the samething?
I'm having the exact same problem. Brand new Xporter XT Boost 4GB, and as far as I'm concerned a complete waste of money and is as useful to me as a brick.
If I wanted to just buy a flash drive I would have done so but bought this one SPECIFICALLY because it was "Enhanced for Vista ReadyBoost". Rubbish. I plug it in to any of my USB 2.0 ports and I get no ReadyBoost option on Autoplay.
I am running Vista Ultimate and have had no USB problems. What's going on here, and how can I unbrick this piece of junk?

in case you want to send me the panacea that is this "low level format utility" though how this will change anything on a brand new drive I don't know.
It's me again. And this time my tone is alot more apologetic!
It turns out that the problem (my problem at least) was with Windows, and not at all to do with the hardware. My profuse apologies.
After much investigating, it turned out, that for some reason the ReadyBoost service was not enabled on my machine. I resolved this by typing "services" in Start Search. Scrolling down to ReadyBoost, and then right clicking to make the initiation of that service enabled and "Automatic".
This solved my problem. And my Computer starts up CONSIDERABLY faster thanks to the technology working and the Patriot XT Boost 4GB operating as it should.
However my research pointed up ReadyBoost to be quite a problematic piece of technology, so I list here a number of the websites I found on the subject. Which may help anyone suffering from similar problems. I don't endorse these solutions, just hope they point you in the right direction.
No worries. I understand how frustrating it can be to purchase something that advertises a specific feature or function; and when you get home to try it out it does not work. I'd be pretty steamed too.
I believe one of our reps, Daniel assisted you via e-mail. As he was doing so, I was browsing through google and other forums to find more information on this.
Thank You for the heads up regarding the matter. I'm glad the issue was resolved. Let me know if we can help you with anyting else.
Thanks for solving my issue
Thanks for giving me the thread to Raffles. He stated to check services which I did and I had it set as manual and not started. Once I set it to automatic and started it, rebooted PC, took out Patriot flash and reinserted it, I got the ready boost auto play option and voila the properties showed my ready boost tab. Now, I am back in business thanks to you. I had Dell support work on my system for about an hour and they gave up and suggested that I try Dell pay service which I declined. Thanks again. George

I tried to load games from my iPod with snesGx, this did not work. I understand that they use code built on the libgc. Are you planning to update the library to support common usb devices?
