    Question Lost Audio

I just got my PBO last week and I've encountered this problem almost from the start. When I first connected it the audio was fine from both movies and songs. However when I turn it off with the remote and then later turn it on, the audio is gone. (Not every time, but I'd say over half the time.) The video plays but no sound comes through. To get the audio back I have to shut it down and unhook it from power for a few seconds. (Turning off the switch on the unit does not help.) Of course this means I have to run it back through setup after I turn it back on, which is a pain. The audio then works fine until I turn it off again. If it didn't have a fan I'd just leave it on all the time.

Any ideas on how to fix this or stop it from happening? Thanks.

You are getting the audio via HDMI too right ? that is most probably and HDMI handshake issue.

Have you tried a better quality HDMI cable (the supplied one is from the bottom of the barrel but works fine most of the time).

Also try another HDMI port on your TV, if your tv has an updated firmware you might want to consider applying that too.

Yes, I'm using HDMI. I tried using the RCA jacks too, but no sound then either. I'll try switching the port on the TV. If that doesn't do it I'll grab a better cable next time I'm out. I think I've already got the latest firmware for my TV, but I'll check it just in case. The loss of audio from the RCA jacks bothers me though. Might be chasing a ghost with the HDMI, but I'll try it anyway. I haven't tried it from a source other than network yet, so that's something else to do.

    Thanks for the help!

Make sure your settings in setup audio are hdmi/raw.

I've tried everything that has been posted so far to no avail. Here is what I have done.
    1. Reflashed my TV.
    2. Set HDMI to RAW.
    3. Bought new cable w/24K gold connectors.
    4. Reflashed my PBO.
    5. Switched HMDI connections.

Nothing has worked. I still have no sound when I turn it on. I even tried leaving it on and the sound still disappeared.

I'm going to try different on-off sequences to see if that makes any difference.

I also want to try and run a movie from a usb stick to see if that makes any difference.

I'm open to any other advice anyone might have. This is almost a cool toy, but right now it is useless to my wife and a PITA for me. Thanks.

Are you getting your video feed from an internal hard drive or by network? I'm wondering if you're having a heat issue. How hot is the PBO getting? Is it just warm or actually hot to the touch?

I'm using a wireless feed. I have not installed a HDD yet. The PBO gets pretty warm, but it is not really hot. You can easily rest your hand on the top of the case.

With a little further testing it appears this is an HDMI/wireless issue since I can get sound if I switch to the regular video/audio outputs. I'm not the only one having this problem. Another person posted with the same problem.

I still haven't tried it from a USB drive, but I suspect it will work. I should be able to get to that tonight.

I'm wondering if one of the alternative firmware loads might help?

The two problems are not related, that other poster never reported that the audio is fine until you go standby (which happens with you).

Also this has nothing to do with wireless or network access, what you are experiencing is clearly an HDMI compatibility issue, try it with a USB drive and report back, 90% chance your issue will persist.

If your issue persists with USB please make a post with the TV model in the TV compatibility thread.
