Thread: Folders appearing when browsing, but no files intermittently

Default Folders appearing when browsing, but no files intermittently

My Box Office is connected to a D-Link DIR 825 router wirelessly via a Trendnet 649UB N USB adapter attached to its front USB port. I also have a D-Link DNS 323 NAS connected to the router.

I have the stock PO5 firmware installed.

When I attempt to browse the contents of the NAS via uPNP, only folders are displayed (even when under the "ALL" file type tab). Sometimes nothing appears at all. When I go to the "Network" tab of the setup menu, I find that the three options are greyed out and I cannot scroll down to access them. However, under "Wireless Setup", an IP address is visible and there are 4 bars of signal strength displayed which fluctuates slightly. It might be worth noting that prior to browsing I am able to navigate to the three network options and modify each. After browsing, they are greyed out.

Typically, if I switch the Box Office off at the rear of the unit, and restart it, my movie files re-appear and are playable (even .mkv's with slight stuttering).

I must say that these formus have been very useful...shout out to aasoror who turned me onto this unit from RFD...

Try another firmware is the easiest solution either the custom (which you'll really like) or the latest beta to match your bootcode.

Is there any specific reason for you to access you files via UPnP instead of direct access via network -> workgroup or shortcuts ?
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

No specific reason whatsoever. I did not think it was possible to access it via network -> workgroup. I did not see the NAS when going through this method.

You need to enable samba/smb or nfs on your nas and then setup the pbo to connect to the nfs if you use that and the samba/smb should work but if you have issues use the machine shortcuts fix in aasoror's signature.
