Exclamation Convoy XL in RAID 1 giving numerous SMART warnings

I've been using the convoy XL for 2.5" drives for 2 weeks now with 2 brand new 500GB Seagate Momentus 5400 RPM SATA drives. It seems to be working fine, except that I keep getting warnings in my system tray about SMART reports coming from the array (which is in RAID 1 'safe' mode). Attached is a screenshot of the report.

I am using a ESATA to SATA+POWER cable in Windows 7 Professional on a Dell XPS 16 laptop with i7 processor and 8GB RAM with all available Windows 7 updates installed. I have 279GB free out of 500GB at the moment and the drive is not fragmented at all.

I guess my question is: what do these SMART errors mean? Maybe someone on the Patriot tech support team could tell me if these errors are coming from their hardware or just being passed along. Is there any kind of diagnostic I can run that came with the enclosure to help me isolate the problem? Anyone else have this problem?

    Hi weirdalfaniam,

The controller in the Convoy XL does not support SMART. If the convoy XL works as is (despite these "errors") I would disregard these errors or you can simply turn off SMART in the bios.

So are you trying to say that if one of my drive is reporting SMART errors, it would not alert me? Just trying to cover my bases to protect my data.

unforunatley the unit doesn't support smart, so you can either turn it off or simply just ignor it. The warning protion doesn't really stop the drive working.
