    Default Regular IO Error Messages

    Hey all,

Bootcode 18, P02, no mods, no internal HDD

I regularly encounter "IO ERROR" messages during playback of large files (like ISOs). The disk is an external USB 1TB drive (Fantom Drives). Copy files to/from - fine, play files on my computer - fine. Playback of certain files on PB - "IO ERROR".

It's annoying - you have to find the file and start it again. It picks back up where it left off, but it's really a pain. I suspect an insufficient read-ahead buffer. Anyone else run into this?

There are a lot of tweaks to playback stuff in the newer firmwares so I would recommend going to the newest P05b for 18/20 bootcode and see if that fixes the problems.

Thanks - I just updated to P05. I mis-stated my bootcode - I'm at 016 still. So, I updated to the latest firmware for 016, and am running tests now.

Yes updating the firmware will definitely solve your problem. When tests complete tell us the results.
