Default Different speed for copy to the Shared Folder and upload via FTP client

    Hi,
I have Gear Box Model: PCNASGB-W-EU firmware version 1.3 with conected Flash Disc and I have following problem. When I copy any file to the shared folder to the GB the speed is too slow about 214 kbytes/s) but when the same file upload to the GB via FTP client the speed is 3400 kbytes/s. Please, where the problem is.

    Best regard

FTP is a much less CPU intensive protocol. Very high FTP speeds vs CIFS ('Windows Sharing') speeds are normal on most any embedded device.

Thanks for your answer. OK "FTP is a much less CPU intensive" but why download speds for FTP and CIFS is the same (about 5000 kbytes/s)

I'm not sure why the download speeds are so high. I have seen similar results on other NAS units. Upload via CIFS is slow, FTP is faster, and both download about the same. The Valkyrie NAS suffers from the same symptoms. As do units from other manufacturers. Higher end units don't seem to b affected as much, but they usually have MUCH more CPU available to them.
