    Default Patriot Valkrye

    Hi,
It may be a really simple question for the experts out there but I need to know how to properly power down the NAS so i don't corrupt the disks by simply switching it off pressing the power button....(if that is not the right way)

I'd prefer to turn my NAS drive one during the day but prefer to turn it off at night...

    Any suggestions?

    Nab

    Hi Nab,

It should be safe to shut off the unit by using the power button to turn it off. You can do this by holding the power button for 5 seconds... no harm done.

Powering it down is one thing, but realisally, it needs a sleepmode and or a sleep timer... Using a NAS for backup is one thing, but running the drives 24/7 lessens their reliability and useful lifepsan....

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes a sleep timer would be good but for now powerdown is ok with me ....
However when i powered it down last time and powered back up, it took 45 mins to sync disks (1TB raid 1)
Anyways, all good from my side...happy with the unit....dont' need it too flashy just a reliable HW to backup my files....
