Unhappy Pleaze help: Connect to Win7 - arrrgh ...

    *first post, yeah*

    hello together,

first I must excuse for my bad english - I´m from germany and I´m using a german version of Win7, but I´ll try my best

I have a netbook with Win7 Ultimate running on it. My PBO has bootloader 18 and firmware version 4 runnnig perfectly but .... the only very bad thing: i can´t connect to my Win7-Netbook over WLAN with the original PBO WLAN stick.

First: I´ve read the thread in this forum concerning Win7 workaround to PBO. I´ve done all the hints given, but still no connection. I´m getting sick if this is going on

    What´s the problem?
On my netbook I shared the D partition, everyone has only reading acces. I have installed a homenetwork WORKGROUP with the given password xxxxxxxxxxxxx. So far so good.

On my PBO I choose browsing the net, then /WORKGROUP/ then my pc /.../ then I see the message "logon sucessful" and I have the shared volumes to choose. And now I starts annoying me to the hell

A window appears where I have to enter the net user ID and the password. Whatever I enter, nothing will work, I can´t access to my netbook ! Everytime I enter, no matter what, the message comes "Logon fail"

Can anybody help me ??? Please ...

    Thank you and greetings,

    Markus.

If your internal lan is secure set the share everyone access and then you shouldn't have to give a user/password and should see everything within the share....remember that windows follows the most restricted method so somewhere below the share level is a no access....remember to pass the everyone access to the subfolders as well. You might have to logoff and log back onto the windows box for the parameters to take effect it's not always effective right away.

@scboley: Thanks, I´ve tried, but - nothing changed.

The suprising thing is, that streaming over UPnP works perfect, but everytime I want to access over the net, I have to enter a UserID and password
I´ve set the access options to everyone (in german: Jeder) only reading. That has been standard, but I made a reset and after reboot the same again ...

Why do I need a username and password and ... what would it be or where can I install a combination of user and password for a workaround?

    Thanx a lot,

    Markus.

Edit: O.K., you are right, now it work´s perfekt The restrictions were not set to everyone in all cases

    Question

With your help I finally managed to play files from my netbook with the PBO, but there´s still one problem left:

How can I copy from the PBO files from the netbook to the internal HDD of the PBO?

When I choose COPY from the menu and then NETWORK, my workgroup is gone ...

    => what to do?

    Thank you,

    Markus.

You can try going the opposite way. Try moving them to the PBO hard drive through your netbook.

check the link about machine shortcuts in my signature.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

    Thumbs up

    @outatouch0:

I already know, that I can go the other way: Netbook over Network to the PBO, but is there a possibility to make the acess directly from the PBO to the Netbook? Background: I´m no always in the near of my netbook, the easier way would be from the PBO ...

@aasoror: I´ll check out - I´ll have to do some research back at home The story will continue Thank you.

    Greetinx,

    Markus.

There is another reason I said that. The PBO file copy method is not very intuitive (a real pain) so a lot of us never bother to use it.

When you say you are not always near you netbook is it safe to assume the netbook is actually still turned on? Someone else is using it perhaps?

    Question

    Hay,

no it´s not still powered, but it´s in another room and my PBO is in the near of my couch

BTW: I don´t know, what to enter in the PBO when i want to create a new shortcut. I entered the net user ID "WORKGROUP" but what is my net password? Is it the password given by Win7 when I created the home-network? Propably not, because it don´t work or do I have to enter a fix IP, too? Where to get? Ask my router?

    Thanx,

    Markus.

Well unfortunatley, if the computer is not powerd on you will not be able to access it from you PBO. Have you tried it with the netbook booted up?
