I was having many problems with my valkyrie. Thank god I returned it and got a Netgear readyNas Duo(RND2110) and I am very impressed with the features, easy setup and amazing support! -no offense to the lone support guy CJ on here, he's quite knowledgeable.

    Highly recommended, good luck guys.

Congrats, this is what everybody should do, return the crap... I see in the Netgear's device specs that has support for "NFS v2 / v3 for Linux and UNIX".

"Patriot NAS crap" will advertise that their crap has NFS support and when you ask them where is NFS, nobody will say a word ...

Sorry "Patriot CJ" if you're not working for your dad's family business, just look for a job in a more serious company.

PS. I'm just curious for how long I will see my message posted

Granted, this box does have some problems...

but for the price tag it's a nice option for someone not looking to blow a huge amount of money and get value level performance out of it. For under 150$ its really hard to do better--or even close

    Default I fixed mine...

I fixed my issues with NFS support by buying a DLink DNS-321 NAS solution and taking the drives from my patriot and putting them in there.

Couple of notes of the DNS-321:

    1. You have to update to latest firmware to support 2 TB drives.
    2. In order to configure NFS support for XENSERVER I had to telnet / SSH into the host and run a cat /etc/exports after setting up a NFS share to determine the share path.
    3. To get shell access you need to hack the box a little using the fun_plug utility. http://wiki.dns323.info/howto:fun_plug
Download the the v.5 fun_plug text file and fun_plug.tgz file and place them into the default volume_1 then reboot the device. It will automatically setup the device, then just telnet into the host and follow some of the how-2 guides on the internet to setup SSH, etc.

The reason why I posted this information here because I still have my Patriot V2 NAS. My hope is that the mythical firmware will be released soon and will support NFS and that the developers take a look at the dlink dns-321 "beta" community to get an idea on how to implement new features as technology changes, but also support the hobbiest community that want deeper access and control.

I think this device has some potiential with the lifetime warrenty, faster processor, and memory.

My hope is the V3 will address the heating issue.
