AFP enabled default?

I am unable to mount this AFP. Also there is not instruction in any documentation about it. Any help would be great.

AFP not supported at the moment, but you should be able to use SMB

What's the status of this elusive "Firmware update"? I'm beyond my return date, and it looks as though Newegg.com took the product down, so I'm stuck with this thing. I'd like it to work as it was advertised.
