Default Trying to understand what my TrueHD and DTS-HD options are.

Edit, this whole problem was network bandwidth related, updates below, see this thread for the network problems. All the stuff I say works below only works for me on a local USB drive.
Ok so I have a new media player here and life is pretty good with music, DVD's and everything. Problem is I can't get any sound at all for all my blurays rips which really bites. Tried both of the SPDIF options and the most I get anywhere is about six seconds of sound on my receiver, same with the TV using those three HDMI options. I find it pretty weird it does anything at all if it isn't going to work, strange. Little disappointment it won't downmix, should have read more.

So at any rate I want to ask if I can go with something like this Onkyo HT-RC180 and be able to play back any bluray using Dolby TrueHD or DTS-MA.

I see all manner of "Dolby® 5.1/ 7.1/ TrueHD as well DTS™ are all supported" mentioned in the FAQ but what about DTS-MA?

If the HDMI RAW just passes through whatever is selected DTS-MA should work right? Anyone doing this?

Yup, TrueHD = Broken with "audio format unknown" message

I found this other thread talking about TrueHD on this box talking about TrueHD not working with this player and I also found this site explaining the new sound formats which really helped me understand a lot.

Luckily I have a copy of the Fifth Element here with the TrueHD track mentioned on that site that I picked up at costco last weekend, cool. I ripped that disk to ISO using anydvdHD and tried to play it back using the HDMI RAW option to get that "audio format unknown" message so I am to conclude no matter what stereo I have that isn't going to work till Patriot fixes that feature.

Fifth Element seems to have a bunch of audio tracks like most of the bluray rips I have here and the only way I know to be reasonably sure to identify them is to put them into PowerDVD 9 and use the display option which identifies the track type and track number. I wish I could get a little more info on the audio track in the PBO, maybe when it works it will identify it as TrueHD?

It does appear I can play back a DTS HD MA track fine. Mind you it must be just the core portion as I am using SPDIF on a receiver that doesn't support DTS HD MA. I would really love to know if someone has a proper receiver and has the full DTS HD MA support. I just bought a Onkyo HT-RC180 but it won't be here for a while.

Used Band of brothers disk 1, track 1 on that is DTS HD MA.

ALL my problems in the first post were network related, as in the box won't play bluray rips over the network. Thats a rather HUGE down side, I may just end up returning this thing if I can't get some fixes for that.
