    Default Please improve network speed

I have some big mkv files stutter on playback from wired lan. They played fine on laptop. The same files played back from USB drive were fine. The PBO network layer is not well written. As most stated, ave. wired lan speed is a low 25mbps.

Patriot_CJ: Can you please get your group to improve the network speed.

got to agree...play avi or rmvb is fine but playing mkv via wired lan it stutters.

I am currently playing a 18GB mkv off a NAS and it's flawless. I recommend buying a NAS and putting all your movies in that. I couldn't get passed the stutter when I was streaming off one of my computers.

It is not just the "mkv". It has something to do with frame detail. I have big mkv played fine, but a few with very high bit rate encoding stutter on heavy detailed dark frames (like action with heavy rain drops), and fast action frames.

I am a newbie on mkv encoding, but these are just my observation.

BTW, I am streaming off from the NAS.

Default I documented this in another post, it is not a network issue, it is a PBO issue

I hope someone from Patriot can confirm they are looking at this.

"It has nothing to do with the network, I even played the same ISO file using the same cat5e connection using my computer flawlessly. However, when I play that same ISO on the same cat5e cable using the PBO it stutters. Not all of my Bluray ISOs stutter, specifically VC1 and MPEG 2 compressed ISOs work fine. The problem is with MPEG4 AVC files."

Then there are two problems related to stutters! BTW mkv files' video bitrate are 15mbps and 13mbps. They played fine via USB, but 10-15s stutters on a few scenes via 100base lan from NAS.

I have yet to see any stuttering on any of my MKV files, using 10/100 LAN only stutters when i fast forward @ 8x and up but that is expected. Playback is fine.

Gentlemen, not all mkv files are the same! For comparsion, please post video bitrate. I believe anything below ~10mbps are stutter free. Performance above ~13mbps will be based on details; for example, talking heads at 15mpbs will for sure be stutter free, but will stutter if frames are fast action with heavy details.

I ended up going to a wired connection because the wireless fails to connect at a fast enough speed to play back a regular DVD across the network.

This needs to be addressed ASAP!
