    I have just checked with Patriot_CJ, he confirmed that PBO is now shipping with the P02 firmware .

    Excited I went to the download page and download the "No-longer-Beta-Now-official-firmware" only to find that they are the very same files (absolutly not a single change made to them since they were posted 6 weeks ago.) I get the following using Checksum v 1.6 on them.

    Code:
    File;Adler;CRC32;MD5;
    ES-51-283G-PCMPBO25-P02(Beta)\Box Office Firmware\UI firmware udpate\install.img;B95D7226;A53514F9;E3C090EC7C1CED576D250F16F349616F;

    Why did the Patriot just change promote the beta to an official release is beyond me, except perhaps they wanted to save the users the hassel of the upgrade and in the same time no one would ship/buy a product that has a "BETA" firmware installed on it out of the box

    On the bright side, Patriot_CJ advised me they are working on a firmware update (in a month or so), so with the beta out of the way, we should expect to see fresh files

    well... I suppose I'll just have to "make do" until the new firmware release in a months time... maybe I'll find a solution... to everyone out there, thanks for the help... I feel it important to return and thank those who have helped me... if ever I see any of you in need and I can help than I will return the favor!

    Installed the WD640G.

    1) Accepted format as prompted.
    2) Off from remote a few times, also powered off from rear switch a few times, no format prompt.
    3) Manually forced format, repeated step 2, no format prompt.
    4) Copied 1 file from USB drive and 1 from NAS, repeated step 2, no format prompt.

    so you flashed it with the drive in? or not in?... secondly... if you turn off the unit for a few minutes and then back on again it still doesn't ask you to format? secondly... the formatted drive is recognised without any glitches?

    if this doesn't work for me, does it mean mine is broken? if so how would I fix it? how would I send it back for warranty?

    Yes, with the PS3 40GB inside.
    There was only 1 format prompt, the first time powered up with the WD640 (Scorpio Blue WD6400BEVT) inside. Still no format prompt even I did a system restore to default.
    No glitch, copied 1 files from USB drive and 1 from NAS, both played without problem. PBO is now copying ~400GB of files from USB drive to internal drive ... standby . I hope the next version doesn't prompt to format, Patriot_CJ, please ensure this!

    You might want to try this. IIRC ...
    The sata connector is on a daughterboard that plugs onto the mainboard via header. It is secured with 2 screws, the header is on the bottom side. Remove and reseat the daughterboard, and check for bend pins too.

    How to check for disk space from the PBO?

    I hope this is just one last quick question... but I'm downloading the file on a linux system and I'm putting them on the flashdrive in linux and then upgrading the firmware from the PBO... is that a problem? secondly does it matter whether or not there are other files/folders on the drive? (as long as th firrmware file is in the root directory right?)
