ryancaguy did you get a chance to test the mem in individual sticks? I tested mine which I mentioned in a previous post, and it would not boot with any of them at 1600mhz.
If you do send the memory back please update here, I really hate to be without a computer for a few weeks, and still have a chance of getting mem back that won't run any better then the stuff I have now, but if others had returned it and had better luck with a different kit I would feel a lot better about going through the hassle for sending it in.
Can a patriot rep post in this thread in response to the problems with gigabyte boards. In the comments on newegg a patriot rep acknowledges there is/was a problem between these two.
I can't seem to find an exact reference to what the problem is, how/when it was resolved etc.
Early revisions of Gigabyte X58 boards were unstable. The fixes have been made on Gigabyte's end implementing new Bios updates to resolve any issues. I would rma the motherboard if you are still experiencing any instablility.
I contacted gigabyte a few min ago. The support guy told me the board was fine and recommended using corsair or kingston memory as it was stable at lower voltages then patriot mem (he said some other brand also needed high voltage but i don't recall which one). I am running the latest bios revision they have, and I told him multiple times that the memory is listed on their website as supported, however he kept referring to needing to use a high voltage for this ram to run properly.
It really seems like if there is a known issue between gigabyte and patriot mem some effort should be made to contact the customers and resolve this issue in a reasonable manner rather then getting bumped between these two manufactures, to a seemingly non-existent resolution.
This is the response I was referring to on newegg.
We are aware of the issue that you are dealing with as far as our Tri Channel RAM and the Giga Byte boards. We are working with Giga Byte to get this issue corrected. Our Tri Channel RAM runs with out issue on other manufacturer's boards. (Seriously, kick me in the face next time why don't ya?)
Please contact Giga Byte for a BIOS update to help correct this issue.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Support Department: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for chooing Patriot Memory!

Review Referencing this same issue and there not being a resolution to it: http://www.cluboc.net/reviews/memory...1600LLK/p2.asp
Problem is mentioned in the last paragraph on the page

I had also emailed gigabyte support in regards to this, here is the reply they sent. It does not seem like Patriot and Gigabyte are communicating very well to take care of the people affected by this, and it does not make a lot of sense to treat customers this way in my opinion.
Question : In this newegg post, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220363
It says to contact gigabyte for a fix to the issue running patriot memory at its rated spec of 1600mhz on gigabyte boards. I can't find any information on your site acknowledging this issue or a resolution to it.

Answer : 1600 is overclocking spec and we are unable to guarantee any results off from overclocking. If you are unable to get it stable you may need to operate it at an slower frequency
RMA'ed ram finally, new ram is running at 1600 without issue. I just got it yesterday so haven't really had time to mess with the settings much, but just by selecting the xmp profile it's running at 1600 and windows hasn't had any issues yet.
Should have done this a long time ago looking back at it, but tks for listing to all my complaining just the same.
No problem... We encourage our end users to let us know if they have any stability issues. We do our best to ensure that we put out nothing but quality products.
I'm glad we got this issue taken care of. Regarding the complaining, that's what we're here for. If you ever have any other issues regarding your memory, you know where to find us!
