Why would you even use the Dasboard? It's a buggy app... you'd better use the interface via your web browser to access your Javelin's settings should you need to. It's not like you need to change...
You should be able to put one of the drives in the external enclosure and recover the files with any decent Linux Live CD (or special utilities on Windows).
This won't help you right now, but...
Then just don't download torrents... they are riddled with viruses, plus most of the content is illegal, unless of course all you download are open source Linux distributions...
;) ;) Just...
This is a normal behavior... in order to change the RAID type from 1 to 5 it needs to reformat the drives for the config change. You simply need to copy your data somewhere else first, then add the...
I'm pretty sure you CAN'T add a drive to an existing RAID0 without breaking the array first, which means you'll lose all the data in the process. The only RAID type you can add to without problems...
Depends on what you want to do and what is your current setup. We need to know:
- What are your current drives set up like? RAID1, RAID0, or Separate drives?
- What would you like to...
Not sure if it should work without any drives inside... but it should work with just one. You are able to have 4 separate drives by creating 4 RAID0 single drive arrays, one for each capacity. ...
For the record, I finally upgraded last night... it worked fine aside from a very scary moment where after the NAS rebooted there was a blinking orange light and no blue lights for the hard drives. ...
Yes it seems it's finally published on the Patriot official download site.
Anybody knows if I will lose any settings / data when I upgrade the firmware? The release notes are very thin, they only...
It totally makes sense that this would be the cause of the problem. This service constantly scans your files to update the DLNA index. There must be a memory leak of some kind with that service,...
I don't think that's possible. But why can't you just do it through your PC? Plug the drive then dump the file to the NAS using shared folder. Sounds much simpler...
Look at this thread from a while ago: http://www.patriotmemory.com/forums/showthread.php?6819-JBOD-and-Existing-Drive-Format
Especially the last post from "kevinkar":
I'm sorry to hear you have problems with your unit. I personnally never use companies "wizards" or auto-setups because I find them useless and too dumbed down so my first advice is to NOT use the...
Well this is not an official support forum... but rather a user forum!
If you wanted help from Patriot you should have opened a support ticket, you would have gotten an answer after at most 48...
The Dashboard application is not essential... What you do need to know for sure is the IP address of the Javelin. I found out mine by going to the DHCP section of my router and seeing which devices...
Well they said it's not possible, so I just closed the ticket. I found a way to have my devices remember the password so I don't have to type it in everytime... it's the best I can do but it seems...
DLNA is crap to start with... too bad you guys are stuck with it. There are multiple limitations, including the amount of files it can scan, or the overhead it creates when scanning for files, or...
Ha sounds like a good idea... but I don't have too much time to work it out! Plus I believe this should be offered build-in and not through a hacked add-on ;)
I actually opened a support ticket...
So basically you're saying that out of the box, there is absolutely no possibility to create an unprotected share? In any way or form? So I'm not the master of my own data then...
Thanks for the...
Yeah, the Patriot box is a little bit different than the Promise one, among the differences are a different CPU and also a different linux kernel / version. Hence why you can't install Promise...
Let us know of what they tell you... personnally I couldn't care less about Mac issues but I'd sure like to have an update to fix a couple of issues this product has.
Maybe so, but the fact is that Patriot hasen't come out with a newer / better model than the Javelin so it's not like I can upgrade to something else. As far as I know this is their only 4-bay NAS...
Just noticed you post because I also have the same problem... this is something that could easily be fixed by Patriot with a firmware update!
You sure are right... I noticed that problem as well, I set mine to go in stand-by after 30 minutes and I noticed they would wake up after a very short wait, even when I have no direct mappings to...
Ok well there must be something I am missing... I was able to use the rooter plugin, then reset the guest password to "blank". However, I still wasn't able to access the share whitout inputting a...
