Wigout, I'd like to thank you for your help.
I got the new FW falshed on to the PBO.
Thanks again I'm now running the most recent bootcode and fw.
Cheers. :)
Yes I do have a serial cable.
I do not see any progress bar over the composite cable, just the old FW main screen.
I'll try and find the fw log, after I find the instructions on here somewhere on...
So I set out to flash the latest Boot Code on to my PBO.
Bought the cable, followed the instructions, and boot code has been updated.
Now the PBO boots with a logo I have never seen before PBO...
Just looking to have it up to date, for future FW revisions and such.
Not actually looking for any features in particular.
I would be comfortable making the cable and upgrading the Bootcode...
This feature was requested by the community, and you are in the minority here.
Sorry bud.
Can someone please tell me how I go about RMA so I can have the boot code updated on my PBO.
Thanks.
I agree completely, this would be a great solution to the many problems the PBO has.
I got this working flawlessly when i got my PBO, however after about a month of use it now prompts me for a password every time i log onto the network. Sometimes it even doesn't accept the blank user...
Being able to change the size of cached network content.
An option somewhere, that you can adjust the size of default cache based on file.
TV: Samsung LN46A530 60Hz (1080p LCD), video via HDMI cable
Audio Receiver: n/a, PBO connected directly to TV
Router: Linksys WRT160N Wireless N Router, connected to DLink Gigabit Ethernet Switch....
I will have to agree with RamboKid on the picture quality, I was really surprised with it. Take an Apple TV for instance it has an nvidia card in it and the thing struggles with 1080p content.

Bump............
Are you serious streaming over wireless, even on a laptop connected to N wireless its flaky at best, this is why I bought the PBO and hard wired it.
I said it before and will say it again, wireless...
Yes in order to get it working on my Win7 machine I had to perform the registry tweaks.
Follow the instructions on the first page.
Can we get the boot code update procedure?
Can you post details about the MKV files you are streaming over the network.
Size, bitrate, etc.
Reason I ask is because i have some large MKv files that i sream as well and i don't encounter these...
Does the PBO cache information it receives over the network before play back, or is it a direct stream?
I think the network speeds the PBO is reporting are inaccurate and do not reflect the speed that it is utilizing.
Also when i was streaming the BR ISO over the network the LAN LED was a solid colour.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449408(WS.10).aspx - this will answer some questions you have for homegroups.
Also to note that i could not share the root of the drive, it had to be a...
Over the weekend I performed a BR ISO test over the network, and it was a little choppy. This does not surprise me as the PBO has 10/100 ethernet.
All my MKV files play fine and i have no issues...
Well home groups should not screw up any shares you have.
@dlsolo
Do you have a home router or a professional router?
Have you tried moving both off the switch? I know this is not a solution but worth a try.
Is your Win7 machine added to a home group?
If this is the case then you should also be able to obtain the code from Realtek.
Please let us know if in fact the code falls under GPL/LGPL license.
