I didn't mean to imply that you could hear it from whatever distance since you didn't say anything about that. I have hard drives in two media players and they can't be heard from 6 feet at all......

An internal 5400rpm notebook drive will be silent. You are really fortunate to have a silent system. That was all I wanted... as the unit is ideal otherwise.
