Boot parted magic. Select mempory. When it is done booting, unplug the SSD cable for 3 seconds whilt the OS is still running. Plug it back in. It is now unfrozen and can be secure erased. No internet...
Something is definately not right... Following the instructions as I posted them should only take a few seconds! Are you formatting rather than Secure erase???????????
U only want to SE it.... See...
What chipset are you using for the controller? Intel, AMD, etc? and which one?
I would NEVER move the SXS directory!!!! The size reported by that directory is false! SXS files actually are mainly pointers to files in other locations... SXS stands for Windows Side By Side...
Always happy to help.:D

The reason the explanations are simplified is that it was mainly written for SSD newbies... Notice that nowhere do I say that free space optimization is bad, just standard defragging (especially with...

and we will get U straightened out :)
Too bad you got a WD instead of the Patriot. Patriot likely woulda worked!
Please see WD support for WD products.
Sounds like a BIOS update issue... Are you running the latest BIOS on your T20? Also, look at the boot device options in the BIOS to make sure the 8 Gig is set for booting.:D
Most of the tweaks I give in this tutorial wil work just fine in XP, but there is No trim support in or planned for Windows XP. Personally, I run Windows 7 for my host and use Windows XP in virtual...
GC works at the hardware level when formatted to NTFS, so it should keep things clean when the computer is idle.:)
Good tip! You just added it!:D
Have you tried copying from one drive to the SSD and back???
Like I said before, the copy from directory to directory can be really messed up by the OS... But from drive to drive, you should see...
The main speed up in an SSD over Hard drive is in the reads. Copying a large file around is not a true indicator of the speed of the device, UNLESS that is what you got the SSD for. If you got it to...
Everything is normal with larger files.... 95% of Windows 7 operations are reads, so things are still faster.
If you are running TRIM enabled drivers in Win7, then you don't need to worry about...
Go ahead and enable search... I have re-enabled it with no ill effects... Looks like they really got it right with the last hotfix.
Probably wont work through USB. Not the fault of the drive, fault of the port. For your protection. Does your laptop use internal SATA drive(s)? Since you will need to boot from a CD or USB pen...
Either delete BOTH partitions on the SSD and restart Win7 install... Make sure to install to whe second partition when U install if it creates 2.
If that doesn't do it, execute a secure erase of...
Or instedd of reinstalling Win7, do an image backup then restore it when the secure erase is done. Also be sure to stay in AHCI mode for the best performance with this chipset and new driver.
Have you looked at the controller supplier to see if the new firmware exists yet? Patriot doesn't write the firmware, the controller manufacturer does.
Phison controller, right? What version of...
Correct... Remember, the first job of the SSD is to lie to Windoze... The so-called fragmentation you see is only at the MFT level and may or may not really exist. In an SSD, believe it or not,...
There seems to be some debate over the use of defragging utilities on your SSD drive. The purpose of this post is to try to clear this up a bit. In order to do this, we must look at where the...
Works great on my mobile chipset.
