I fixed my issues with NFS support by buying a DLink DNS-321 NAS solution and taking the drives from my patriot and putting them in there.

Per Vlagnar's I switched the Drives in the Bay and was able to get the device to format to RAID 1 Now.
Also I was able to transfer a file while the device syncs.
