It is. There have been no new PBO firmwares (official or modified) in a long time. The PBO Core is now what we diplomatically call "mature" hardware.
I went through 2 new Hard Drives in my PBO in 3 years - despite all my mods to reduce heat, they both got fried. If you're going to go that route, get an external USB unit - there are some...
Some ACRyan firmwares can pose problems when you try to change them. I would strongly recommend making a serial cable as posted here:...
I assume you have the PBO's volume (via its remote control) set to max? Also, some receivers allow for different volume levels through specific inputs - if yours has that, then maybe the input for...
????? Since when??? The vast majority of videos stored on my PBO HDD are MKVs (over a hundred), and they play beautifully!!
I tried the simple approach: I placed the "ntpd -nq -p pool.ntp.org" command at the very end of the rcS script, immediately preceded by "sleep 30".
For now, that seems to be working well for my...
I'll check this all out - thanks!!
I installed busybox 1.18.1 on my PBO successfully. When I run "ntpd -nq -p pool.ntp.org" via telnet after startup, it works fine, but it doesn't work when I put it in rcS. Am I doing anything wrong,...
I've been using sabnzbd now for several months on my PBO (bootcode 27, MedeBO shizzl mod 3.2 FW, 1 TB internal HDD w/ ext3 format). I'm quite pleased with it, after learning and accepting its...
The unit itself (whether it be PBO or any other model) cannot have any influence on digital audio output unless it's intentional (such as night mode). Analog audio output can be more easily affected,...
Because I'm not too experienced with Linux, I simply copied unrar and all four par2 files (par2, par2create, par2verify, par2repair) from /opt/bin to /bin. They're all pretty small, so space...
UPDATED ON 2/18:
Here's what I did to install sabnzbd. I'm not at all experienced with Linux. so some of you may know more efficient ways to accomplish this:
1) Make sure your PBO firmware is...
I'm away from home for a few days. I'll try to come up with some instructions within a week or so.
I had the same problem on several occasions. PBO's handling of files in NTFS-formatted drives is not one of its strong points.
I connected the PBO to my PC via the mini-USB port in back, and then...
My experience has been quite different with my NTFS-formatted external USB HDD. Copy times to/from the PBO for a 8GB file would be no more than 10 minutes, usually faster.
UPDATE: A new month, so I was able to resume downloading via sabnzbdplus. Works like a charm! Very fast and consistent download speeds, and easy to use.
The main concern when I first set up the...
Does this apply only to PBO fw? I ask because in my MedeBO fw I added root and usb drives to my smb.conf (and removed sambaconfig), and they always show up on my PC, even when I insert the usb drive...
Problem solved for Medebo fw, and probably for PBO firmwares (w/ yaffs). I simply removed configsamba (thereby preventing it from messing up other files) and then edited the smb.conf as indicated in...
Any chance of someone figuring out how to do this with MedeBo fw? I'm using Shizzl mod 3.2, and I got the FTP service to access the root partition, but it's clumsy and slow. I really enjoyed this...
I finally got it installed. It took awhile, but it seems to be OK. However, I can't tell you how it functions for a few more weeks because I already used up (on my home PC) the usenet monthly...
That's what I did, but to no avail.
In an adventurous mood on my day off today, so I thought I'd try this. I simply could not get the solder to adhere firmly to the circuit board. Gave up after an hour of soldering attempts and looking...
I have no problems with MKVs whatsoever. Try MakeMKV - it's free, easy, and very consistent in terms of quality.
Your router should be able to provide that info.
