Fill all 4 slots or just 1

I've seen this question asked before and figured you mem guys could give a better answer. My MOBO has 4 mem slots with two dual channel controllers (4 gig max mem). Would I get better performance splitting 2G into 4-512meg dual channel, or 2-1G dual channel?

Let's see if you are using both the same specification memory spec for 512MB or 1GB it doesn't make a difference. But the thing is some of the 2 X 512MB DDR (PDC1G320+XBLK) PC3200 module has better performance than 2 X 1GB DDR PC3200 (PDC1G3200LLK.) And if you are using 4 of those 512 modules, you are going to get better performance than the 2 1GB module. But it limit your future expandability since all 4 slots all been used. It comes down to what you are looking for in the end. If you are looking for speed, I say go for the 512MB module (PDC1GB3200+XBLK.)
