I just got a Javelin S4 and I am having some difficulty.
First of all the Dashboard won't work. It runs for maybe 2 seconds and then disappears. This wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't such a novice.
Secondly, since the Dashboard won't work I am trying to use my browser to set it up. I cannot get the S4 to show up as a drive in my computer. I really wanted this to function as my media server that all of my PC's could access.
Can anyone help me?

The Dashboard application is not essential... What you do need to know for sure is the IP address of the Javelin. I found out mine by going to the DHCP section of my router and seeing which devices were connected. Once you know what is your IP, just go to any browser and type it directly in the URL, for ex: 192.168.1.115
There you can access the admin interface. If I was you, I would change the device's name to something more user-friendly, such as "JAVELIN", don't forget to match the workgroup name to the same as your network. I would also change the default admin password to something a little bit more complex.
Not essential, but I recommend to setup a static IP address so it will never change again, choose something between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.99 because it's usually not part of the DHCP. Don't forget to match the DNS fields with your internet access.
Finally, to map a drive it's really easy: in "Computer", go into "Tools" then "Map Network Drive". Choose an empty letter, in "folder" type your device (ie. JAVELIN) name followed by the folder (ie. PUBLIC) name in the following manner: \\JAVELIN\PUBLIC
As an alternative, you can also use the IP instead of the device name: \\192.168.1.10\PUBLIC
Before clicking "Finish" make sure to activate both checkmarks. Then it will ask you for a username and password, type "admin" and the account password. Finally activate "Remember this password".
Now that's assuming you want full access to the drive. If not, you'll need to create an account in the web interface and assign the rights before mapping the drive using that new username/password.
