4gb XT Flash Drive - recognizes only 2gb

I recently purchased the 4 gb XT flash drive and it initially was working fine. However a program that utilized the flash drive reformatted the drive and adjusted it...now my computer will only recognize 2GB of memory on the flash drive. I have tried reformatting in disk management under both FAT and FAT32 file systems to no avail. What can I do so all 4gb are recognized?
