I just got the Javelin a couple of days ago. I downloaded the Squeezebox server plug-in from the web site and attempted to install it. It begins the installation and then after about two minutes I get a dialog box that says: "Failed!".

Does anyone know what this is all about?

I too have had issues with installing squeezebox. There is an error log with more details available from the web UI. Make sure the mysql plugin is installed and running to see if that alleviates the issue.

Are you running the most recent firmware, or are you running the original factory firmware? The current firmware doesn't do anything technical, but it DOES advance the version of the NAS software that plugins see, and may permit it to run.

Even with this, i have had issues with the squeezebox plugin...

Thanks for the reply on this. I did upgrade the firmware to whatever was on the web site as of yesterday. However, I DID disable the MySQL plug-in simply because I thought I didn't need it presently. I'll try re-enabling MySQL and see what's going on and come back with an answer.

I still can't install it and tech support has not replied to my ticket yet. It's been 4 days. Not a good sign.

I re-enabled MySQL and I tried installing again. I got the error again when installing, but it installed the SB anyway. I was able to get the service started but when I tell it to scan my music folder it doesn't do anything. Maybe I am doing something wrong or maybe the installation of SB looks OK but really isn't. Tech support mentioned that the file may have been corrupted and to try downloading and installing again. That seems like a stretch to me, but OK I'll try it. I'll let you guys know.

FWIW...

When I first got my Javelin a few months back, I downloaded the plugin from the website and installed it flawlessly first time through. Read this thread and thought I just got lucky (or you unlucky).

Since then, in troubleshooting another problem with the DNLA Server, I uninstalled SqueezeBox, tried to reinstall it and it failed with the same error.

I've played around with it and found I can consistently duplicate the following behaviour:

trying to install the plugin from the Javelin Dashboard fails
installing the plugin from the web interface succeeds

Maybe that solves your issue? Anyone else interested in trying to duplicate my observations?
