Hi, finally bought this unit. Nice and easy to setup. It was up in running with 2 250GB set as raid0 and 2 500GB set as raid5 in no time at all.
Now suddenly, I am not able to connect to the unit in window 7 and noticed in the admin web that in File & Print->Protocol Control -> Windows that the Services was set to Disable. I have been trying to set this to Enable with no luck.
Does anyone know what is happening?
Thanks,
Rick..

I am unsure how RAID 5 with 2 drives works, that might as well be RAID 1 (mirroring). Moving on, what happens when you try to enable the service? Is the option grayed out, does it display an error?
Perhaps a screenshot would help clarify your settings.

Hi BI. Sorry I missed type it, its raid 1, not raid 5.
When I try click enable button or, on the other page, select the enable radio button then apply. This option stays disabled. No error message or anything. This was working fine in the beginning but stopped for some reason.
I'll try to power the unit down and unplug the power and try it again later.
Any suggestion on what to do? Let me know.
Thanks!
Rick..

Try going into Administration -> System -> reboot/shutdown, select reboot, and hit okay.
Barring that, if it still misbehaves, try removing the drives for the second volume. It will beep at you like mad, but if it enables the service, then something fishy is going on....

Hi. I tried your suggestions and did not work. Remove all and put back all harddrives and power on, still no go. I sent a support ticket to tech. support and hopefully I get some valid answers.
Oh well!!!!

I decided to delete my volume2 that was set as raid1 and suddenly I am able to enable Windows Services. I find this disturbing. I haven't tried setting up my volume2 back yet as I am afraid I'll have the same problem as before. I've sent this observation to tech. support already hoping they will have some answers about it.
Now, 2 questions I have. 1. In the Protocol List, I am not able to enable the FTP Sharing. Same problem was with the Windows Services before where you cannot enable it. It keeps on switching back to disable. 2. The Print Server is not selectable. The tab on the Protocol List is disabled and the enable button is disabled too.
Is this the case for everyone?
Please let me know how these things are behaving on your unit.
Thanks,
Rick..

print sharing is also disabled on my setup. I think there needs to be a compatible printer plugged in.
My FTP settings work as intended.

It's been a while since I wrote this one. Everything seem good now. I was asked by support to do a hard reset on the unit and it seems to fix the problem. They were guessing that is has something to do with the debug codes in the system (whatever that means) so the hard reset should fix it.
Thanks,
