Hi.
Just purchased the Hornettek MP-2020 and have update the Firmware to the PBO version.
I like the box as it can play everything I throw at it and it overcomes some "short-comings" of my Samsung TV.
But I HATE the interface. My wife will never use it B/C you have to go through so many clicks to get the the actual movie. Is there a better GUI I should be using? Would like to have something that had a simple and advance mode.

Simple mode: Turn the box on and there are the movies.
Advanced: Normal settings and a way to set the simple mode defaults.

Is Mede8er something I can use on this box?

Can I turn off the folder upon folder upon folder views for finding movies?
I have converted my DVD collection and have several hundred stored on a server and would like to just be able to turn the box on and see a list of movies. Would be awesome to see the move title, description and thumbnail which I think the Mede8er does but as this is not a "real" PBO box I am not sure what I can and cannot do with it.

I am using the MP-2020 with the PBO Firmware
System Revision P0020BC16-6L
Kernel Rev: 323634
Bootup: 16 Bootcode: 0000.0202.0016

PlayOn

Samsung LN52A750

Any advise, tricks, hacks etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

Also you need to do a network share shortcut which is a link to the information on aasoror's signature and a lot of the information of options for the PBO is in the wiki page here (http://patriot-box-office.wikidot.com/customizing-the-pbo:a-mini-guide) and I just added the share shortcut info to the wiki page here (http://patriot-box-office.wikidot.com/ease-of-use-tips)

Look at the post again I edited it and added a link to the network share information to the wiki site as it wasn't there.

I just added MedeBo and it is very nice. Looking through the Wiki right now as well and very useful information. Thanks for the great advice.

Ok I have my box running well with the Medebo loaded.
I purchased a Logitech Harmony 670 remote and it is ok but does not work well with the Medebo.
On the remote I have set it up as Computer/Media PC/ PBO and Phantom.
When I try to work the box with the remote neither setup works.
I have looked here and also google and really dont see an answer to how I need to set the remote up so if anyone here has a similar setup I would appreciate a little advise.
TIA.

I will try the PCMBO25. Did you have to retrain any of the buttons? Mainly the Center Enter button? And is that just a matter of pointing the old remote at the new one and then hitting the button? Or do you do the actual mapping of the keys in the software options?

Thanks for your reply.

If I remember it right, the "enter" button in Harmony does not fully work (no zooming?) as the original remote. You may need to retrain that one. I have a Harmony, but I prefer to use the PBO remote.:D

Correct on the zoom button. I think it is Eject /Title.
I prefer the Hornettek remote myself but you have to change the TV input and then switch remotes to the PBO one. We have 5 remotes in the bedroom and I cant keep up with 1 so I am constantly searching. Plus the harmony has a watch TV and Watch Movie button that changes the input and turns on the PBO in one step and will be much easier for the Mrs.
