As many have seen I purchased a new diamond MP900 and have posted some observations. I did an inquiry to diamond about what chipset the player has and they replied back that all of them have realtek chips in them.
Now here's what's interesting. The MP900 has options for sorting files by filename or date......enabling looping of file playing in folders for both music and video......disabling the function of autoplaying files.....
Now my point is if these are actually realtek chips why aren't these functions implemented on any firmware we've seen to date on any of the 3 we are able to view??????
The diamond interface looks NOTHING at all like the others so I'm doubting that these are realtek based players. I worked tech support and heard often people sitting next to me giving out totally incorrect information all the time as they were doing the role of a warm body with a headset.
So interesting that an initial release player has features that a lot of people have harped about constantly on here.....maybe diamond has been lurking about this forum ;)

Interesting Indeed
I also noticed that a couple of the Diamond Media Player models (the 700 and 1000 iirc) look a lot like a couple of AC Ryans - although slightly different

Yeah I'm tempted to open the 900 and see what is in it although I doubt that diamond would find that to their liking as I doubt they'll encourage people to just open their products and keep the warranty intact.
Someone posted a review on newegg for the 1000 saying they had many other of the realtek players and that the remote and options are way better than any of the other ones they have tried.

Does the 900 have some sort of a seal on the case that will show it's been opened, if you ever do have to send it in for warranty work -- If not , crack that puppy open and let us know what you find inside

Well I cracked it and it's an Amlogic AML8726H which is very good news and also only about 3 to 4 months since its release. Very cheap and 400mhz and even better DUAL CORE yippee. AmlogicAML8726H Product Features & Benefits
* Core to dual core 32bitARC750D
* Frequency of 400 MHz, 800 × 480 screen with 4.3-inch 1080P HD decoder
? Full support for 1080P encoding, RM / RMVB, MKV (H.264 encoding), MPEG (AVI), MOV, FLV, MPG, VOB, MPE, DAT, TS ..... and other formats
* Support, including Dolby, AC3, DTS, RA, AMR and other audio over multiple video decoding, support for MP3, WMA, WAV, RM, OGG, AAC, M4A, FLAC, APE and other audio formats, support for SMI, ASS, SSA, SRT, SUB and other subtitle formats, but has OTG function, external hard drives and other mobile devices, and supports TV-OUT video output, but also includes features such as recording and FM

Yep amazing that pcb is the only thing in the whole system and it just has vent slots for cooling and not even a passive heatsink on the chip! This sucker will change the whole face of things.....imagine a 2.5 drive enclosure with this embedded inside tapping the hard drive straight usb. A full blown 1080p system with terabyte internal drive space and no heat problems whatsoever......price and performance and value will sink the 1073 series quick.

It's Def. got my attention -- keep us posted Bud -- I'm about media box poor right now - I really don't need a 5th Box - but you've got me very interested!! - especially in a couple of the other models/features that Diamond offers - Nice!!

Will do....imagine you want to go to a friends house to watch a movie....it's a bit to lug the PBO around as I've done it but this just load the movies you want on a SD card pop it in the player slot and load player, remote, very light power cord, and hdmi cable in a very small bag and you're taking high definition viewing anywhere.

Looks like Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (1080p) MP1000 is another copy of Box Office.

Yeah the mp1000 is realtek based and had information on that already but there's a big vacuum about all the other ones and opening the mp900 proves what are in both the 800 and 900 versions and now the 700 is all that's left in limbo as to what drives it.

The MP1000 looks pretty much like many of the OEM models from China. I guess it is simply a rebranded OEM product.

I looked at the actual youtube review and saw the close up pics and there are a few differences.
No internal drive option on it at all....has the front reset button....and both usb are stacked in the back in the same location as the pbo rear usb port.
All other devices line up exactly the same as the pbo. This lends support to the idea that one chinese company got the license from realtek to build all the boxes and the designs only differ a little from the reference pcb and its up to each oem to how much they decide to alter it.
You notice the ones with the most altered (acryan and xstreamer) have the highest pricetags of all the 1073 boxes.

a side note, as of right now, if I read the manual correctly, there is no HD-Audio support and no UPnP support as well (I checked this last week, is there a networking interface on the MP900?)

No network on the mp900 at all and it supports DTS and HD audio native in the chipset. It has 2 usb ports and supports copy between them as well as to the SD slot within the gui. This thing is so slim and small that it's amazing the functions it has and is passive cooled without even a heatsink on the chip yet outputs 1080p with a dualcore chip at 400mhz.

I don't mean it is an OEM of the PBO, but an OEM of other China made player boxes.
There is one thing more interesting. There is now a media player brand in China called "Partiot" in Chinese, but they have models different from PBO.
