I am using PBO with patriot's wireless-N adapter. It is within 5' of the router separated by a wall.

I have noticed over the last two months that PBO loses network connectivity often (for no reason) and after it loses connectivity, I need to power down the PBO (as the remote is not able to turn off PBO) and then when I power up, the can not connect to network. Most of the time, I need to reboot the router to establish the connection (otherwise I will keep getting the error "DHCP Not ready"), even if I try to establish the connection. I am using P61 custom FW, but I have noticed the same behaviour even with official P61 FW

Most of the router reboots in the last 2 months was because PBO unable to connect. I have a seagate freeagent with airlink adapter from meritline and it works flawlessly. I can unplug the power and move that media player from one room to another and I wouldn't need to do anything to reestablish connectivity, while with Patriot most of the time, I need to reboot my router to establish connectivity.

I am just wondering if others are having similiar issues with patriot's wireless-N adapter or could this be an issue with PBO itself?

Why not try P61R2 ?
btw if you can't shut down the PBO via remote then there is something messed up with the firmware running on it (there is application running on it that it can't shutdown gracefully which indicates troubles).
So even if you still want to use P61 megapack, I would flash with P02 then reflash wit P61 megapack just to clean up the box.

I have a seagate freeagent with airlink adapter from meritline and it works flawlessly.

Did you try switching adapters ? but the airlink in the PBO and see if it fixes your problems.

Hi,
I am facing the exact same issue, video plays for sometime then the PBO just hangs will have to reboot and setup network again.
I am using Patriot Box Office Wireless N USB Adapter PCBOWAU2-N

I tried using Airlink AWLL6075 adapter but could not get it to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Firmware is : [BETA] Release P61R2 (Dec 11 2010)

Thanks
Chandra

Hello,

I am facing the same issue with any Podcast video, the feeds playing only for a few minute then the PBO Core just hangs and will start playing the feed again after a minute.

I had using the Patriot Box Office Core with an original PBO Wireless USB Adapter and a new Release P61R3 (28.01.201).

No idear to solve this problem on my own, but only one result works:

Now I´m using a CAT5 network cable without any streaming problem! Any HD rss Feed is now a enjoyment.

HD over USB wifi is a huge YMMV, best to either go wired or use a wireless access point.

Agreed. In my environment I even had problems streaming SD using USB wireless.

To be strictly accurate, one should call it a "wireless Ethernet bridge" rather than a "wireless access point", although some AP's can be put into bridge mode. An AP provides wireless access to a wired network, whereas a bridge connects wired devices to another AP/router over a wireless network. I'm getting much, much better performance from a bridge than from USB wireless, and I think it's a combination of factors -- better connectivity from the bridge than the USB dongle, and less processing overhead in the PBO. Basically with a bridge the PBO thinks it's talking to a wired network.

Finally giving up on wireless never been a wireless fan.
Got the Airlink N adapter also to work but same issue PBO freezes up.
Order crimpers and stuff from ebay so I can create an Ethernet plug at my OnQ box and plug it into my router.

I was using a wireless bridge initially with seagate Freeagent theater before I started using wireless-N dongle from airlink. I didn't notice a big difference between those two modes with seagate. HD movies that won't playback smoothly with dongle didn't do any better with bridge either for seagate.

The more I think about it, I think PBO froze more often with other activities like torrent, file copy etc. than video play back(but then I don't play back a lot of HD files with PBO anyway).

I am planning to upgrade my router in the next couple of months. Is there a big difference between gigabit router and a plain wireless-N with 300 Mbps for HD playback, if PBO is connected to the router thru usb wireless adapter. Also with wireless-N, if I still have some wireless-G devices on the network, will that affect streaming?
