Will using gigabit equipment have any affect on performance? The PBO isn't a gigabit card is it? What would the purpose be of switching over to a gigabit network?

If you have a gigabit device hosting your media files and you fed to multiple devices, your throughput would be much higher and little chance of ever having stuttering or dropoffs feeding your devices.

If you had just 100mb and you were feeding the pbo and trying to say watch something on the pc you could then easily bypass the capability of the 100mb and start seeing stutters and dropped connections.

It would always be the better choice to go gigabit just for forward thinking having more capacity than now and hopefully what you need in the future.

On that note you will only get TRUE gig speeds if ALL devices on your network are gig.

I think it says 100Mbs on the retail box, even thought if you get haft of that you will be happy, it usually run @ about 37,xxx kbs, thats why it studded when playing Blueray at 1080.

There isn't a single adapter out there that generally gets over 40 to 50 percent of the advertised standard so ignore 100 gigabit or any of that but do know gigabit does have 10 times the avg throughput of 100mb and if all over devices are gigabit the 100mb of the pbo still benefits as network congestion has almost no effect on it being fed nonstop.

I wish there is a USB gigabit adapter that works on PBO...:rolleyes: Even USB is limited at 480mbps, but still better than 100mbps NIC on-board....
