Have you tried both ports (back and front).
Have you tested the same adapter on a laptop on the same vicinity the PBO is installed ?
Have tried a USB extension cable to bring the PBO within sight of the router ?

as i said.. it discovers the network and asks for a password.. i'll try the front port but i am getting full bars on signal strength.. and i don't have anything else to test the stick out in..

Yes I understand, sometimes range related issue would cause similar behavior (can see network and sign in but fail get an IP allocated).

Might want to try disabling any security you are using.

Also try assigning a static IP for the stick on your router.

Might also want to power cycle your router and the PBO.

power cycling .. unplugging the power adapter from the router, wait couple of minutes then replug.

Tell us what brand and model wireless router are you trying to connect to?

Do you have other wireless devices on the network that uses the same router?
If PBO is the only wireless device, can you login to the router and check that the DHCP Server on the router is enabled and have enough IPs to spare?

You said you disabled security. Did you disable it by not requiring any WEP/WPA ? Also check to see if you have MAC address filtering enabled on the router or not.

Sam.

NOW i'm into a few more problems :).. i got my main folder sharing mkv's accessable and another for tv shows on the same drive accessable.. i have other folders on other drives that i can't seem to get access to.. from what i can see i set all the permissions the same yet no go. any thoughts? AND!! even with all most full reception -1 bar 1080P movie playback is lagging big time allso any thoughts.. Thanks for all your help

Refer to the win 7 sticky in this section, there is some registry hacking tricks there, but since you got some folders on the same PC accessible there is no way the others (non accessible) is shared similarly (else would have worked as well), double check you permissions.

Lots of variables, if you want to use wifi for anything more than SD streaming then wifi Access point is the way to go (and not wifi USB adapter), even that might not be as reliable on 1080p (a wire if the way to go for such high rate transfers).

One annoying thing about the PBO interface is that it's "error message" is showing you that goddamn password prompt. This is confusing cause it leads people to think that it's connecting, and that it just needs the passwords. So when you put in the password and it doesn't work, you assume it can't work with the correct password, and blame the password system... all the while the stupid interface isn't verbose enough to report the actual error you're having.

I'm going to try the A.C. Ryan and Mede8er firmwares tonight, and hopefully none of these annoying interface designs are present.

lol one month... about 1.5 hours everyother day.. upgraded to win7 AND FINALLY SLOVED MY PROBLEM.. ok you people may remember my post over a month ago couldn't connect to my pc .. seems like a on going problem for this fourm.. finally connected but only to a few of my folders.. odd posted saying i had everything setup the same for my other folders but still couldn't get it, and i was told i couldn't have had it setup the same.. True and not true.. my shared folders were .. HD movies, HDTV, DVD ISO'S, DVD ISO'S 2, DVD ISO'S 3, MP3"S, MY PIC'S... I could only accsess the first 2 folders.. guess why i couldn't access the last few.. the *u*king ' i don't know why .. anyone like to explain why either windows or the PBO doesn't like ' ?? i'm happy now :)
