Questions before buying :o

Hii! I was looking for this in random stores I can find (radioshack, compusa, walmart, target) and I cant seem to find any available so I thought Id just buy it off the net :o

So umm..Im going to be using it on a laptop with an eSATA and a SATA II port so I plan on using it heavilly with 2 drives... An SSD VRAM (I just have to get a 30gb ssd to test it out lol) and a 1TB 7200rpm drive with all my files.

What I was worried about was that either the bandwidth will choke (will it? :o) or that the usb power wont be enough >.< can someone bring some light to thiis? cuz I srta scared to buy it without testing (ebil shops not having this product for testing x.x)

PS : my laptop has usb 2.0 ports:o its a sager np8690 and im asking them atm if it has port multiplier :o

Im getting problems now with copying files when its in esata mode >.< anyone know stuff i can do to try to fix? atm theres only 1 hard drive in..

I replied to you in the other thread as well, but make sure the usb power is connected.

Okk umm...

I had the latest version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology and when support guy said to update matrix, I uninstalled RST and installed Matrix (After googling a bit).

Still didnt work on eSATA BUT I decided to uninstall MAtrix and try RST again!

This time, I left the eSATA plugged while I restarted and when I fully boooted up, a bit 'Installation complete' sign came up with the convoy xl!

Now its working puurrfectly!

Sooo~ For people with NP8690/Clevo w860CU~ Just uninstall RST and your convoy will work fine on eSATA~

PS : It worked for me but it might not work for everyone else! :o

Atm getting the numbers I expected from Crystal DiskMark (instead of crashes :p) Ai ish a happy camper nows LOL

sorry for reviving an old thread. but does your post mean thet after installing RST w/ the device. the Port Multiplier has been enabled on the NP8690. I also have a NP8690 and been living with using an express 54card for my port multiplier. this is good news if I don't have to plug in an express card everytime.
