Hi all. I am trying to network my box office. My router WEP key is a full upper case/lower case alphanumeric code, but the box office is only offering me a limited keypad of hex symbols (0,1,2...d,e,f) to enter my code. I can only get a full keypad when I select the WPA option on the network menu, but I don't use a WPA code, I use a WEP code.

Never had this problem with the Wii, which is networked just fine.

Can anyone please help me with this?

You have to use the caps on the PBO keyboard to get the uppercase letters A, B etc... Between the usage of the shift and caps on the PBO you should have access to all the alphanumeric characters (uppercase and small caps).

yep, I can see that option when I select WPA code, but not the WEP code opton. The little keyboard I get when I select WEP code only goes up to the letter 'f'. I need the whole alphabet for my WEP code.

I didn't think anyone used WEP anymore since it's totally hackable in under 3 seconds ;)

This is from the PBO user manual:
Note 2: When using the Wi-Fi Networking option, Box Office will only recognize WEP with Open system, or WPA Personal, or WPA2-Personal settings.

In other words, it's highly advisable not to use WEP.

I still don't understand why my laptop and Wii have had no problems getting onto my wifi router network using my WEP code, but this 'box' seems to only recognise hexadecimal WEP codes - seems inconsistent.

OK, so I guess I'll have to change my router code to a WPA code instead, and change my other wireless devices to accept this new WPA code.

Thanks for your help Billcat and Snappy46, I appreciate that I can get answers so quickly. Cheers.

wep in native naming mode can only use 0-6 and a thru f and is why you're seeing these keys and not all of them.

Sorry for the misinformation I did not even realized that myself. I am using wep as well since my old axim5 PDA only recognize wep (too old for the not so new wpa standard). Anyhow after you reply I just remembered that I had to use the hex equivalent on the PBO to match the letter/numbers to make it work. So for example "a" = 61h "1" = 31h in hexadecimal just enter the hex value without the "h" and so on.....

You mean 0-9 and a-f right ????;)

I tried plugging in "thru" and pbo got all confused and told me to contact homeland security :(

Edit:
Ack! I just noticed I've been upmoted to Senior Member, which means I've spent far too much time on this forum
