defective flash card?

i have a Patriot 8gb sdhc flash card that i can't seem to read or write to. i am running vista and it says there is no file system on the card. My docking station reads both sd and sdhc but is unable to see it. My camera which uses both sd and sdhc, gives me a memory card error message. Is this because there is no fat or fat32 file system on the card, and can a file system be put on the card to make it work.

Did you make sure that the card reader and the camera is able to use an 8GB SDHC card? Because it might be to big for the card reader on both your computer and camera. If you did made sure then there is might be something wrong with the sd card, and i would suggest to see if you can find a different device that you know that does work with an 8GB SDHC card to test out our card to see if it will work on that device to make sure that your sd card is working or not.
