Ever since I updated the firmware to 4.0, I get a pause with the message hdd 1 plug-in at the top. It stays on for about 10-30 seconds and then goes away. While the message is up I cannot do anything on the PBO. Is this normal? If not, any ideas how to get rid of it?

This is normal.

This message also appears with P02 (duration depends on configuration).

The PBO is informing you that it is loading the shares information.

True, but for P02, it doesn't stay for more than a split of a second, so I am thinking 10~30 seconds are just not normal.

I see the same thing.

I thought I was the only one.... I've been recently rooting around mounting shares and thought I might have accidentally changed something unintentionally.

Depending on the number of shares and their mount type, the message can be displayed for a while.
On mine with P02 and 3 NFS shares, it stays on for about 10 seconds or so.

P04 added extra time during boot up to allow loading the external USB drive, if any.

If you have P02 and do the USB drive hack and added 30s sleep time to load the USB drive, you will see the exact same thing.

I have to admit that I didn't consider the time taking for the NFS mounts (at OP didn't mention that in his initial post), true my PBO locks up during the NFS mounting but still this happens after the HDD message is gone (P02)
