Hello,
I can see that telnet access is something that will be added in the next firmware release. Any ETA on the release? Where can one find the Valkyrie firmware download?
Any other features? is there any release notes yet?
Thanks in advance
John

Thanks for getting back to me.
Any word on when SSH access to the NAS is available? is it a feature you plan on adding?
Shell access to the Linux OS would be a huge bonus as it means I can install my own apps/run my own scripts and everything else.
Thanks...

End of March is here. Any news about firmware update?

Is there currently any existing firmware updates? I've tried searching relatively thoroughly and haven't found any page that even replicates a download page or file repository for updates for this device. I am led to believe this device has zero updates up until this point, is this correct or have I missed something?
I understand from reading websites and these forums that there is a long awaited firmware update that has yet to be released however if there is any update I have missed it would be much appreciated to be given a link to the download page (no rick rolls or fake links please =)).

Or not... :(
This is annoying, I am waiting on this update to decide if I am buying this NAS enclosure.
It seems that Patriot has a real hard time to come up with firmware updates...
We are in the same situation with the Box Office...

Hi,
I just purchased this device and think the things that are being promised for the next firmware release would make it much more useable.
Any timeframe on the release now we're in April?
Cheers

For goodness sake, where is the firmware update? In-fact, where is Patriot support at all. You gave a timeframe saying firmware update would be released by the end of march and here we are approaching the end of april. I do recall seeing a post from a Patriot representative two weeks ago mentioning the firmware was 'only 1-2 weeks from completion' and still nothing.
Honestly Patriot this is very poor form putting a carrot on a stick for customers who bought this product. This product advertises capabilities it can't even utilize! A lot of customers have trusted your false hope for such a length of time that it isn't even possible to return the item.
I find it fairly sad that customers like myself who were unfortunate enough to purchase this product have even gone to the extent to offer building updates for the device themselves. I think it'd be in the customers best interest to release whatever progress has been made on the upcoming firmware update, rather than continually adding to what is expected to be a fairly major update.
Sure this may seem like a big rant but I frequent this site multiple times a day in anticipation that I can finally make use of this devices potential. All I ever read is more users experiencing problems and what seems to be dwindling support. At the very least Patriot, give a solid date on this firmware rather than stringing people along any further.

A lot of sites have reviewed this product. And that was whyI bought it. However, none of those reviewers seem to realise that support for this thing is non-existent. It's time to start making sure that more people are aware of just how many things are wrrng with it.... I suggest adding comments and spreading the word on as many review and tech sites as possible... Maybe the bad press will get something accomplished.

It'll be a few more months. I gave up and boxed mine up. Anyone want a second one? I'll never use it again. $80 plus shipping takes it.

so... any information on this upcoming firmware? End of april deadline was broken quite some time ago and any news is better than none.

If Patriot purchased the Valkyrie from a 3rd party, maybe they don't have the technical ability to support this system internally. This would be another reason to release the code to the public. But maybe they don't own the code. Thoughts, or opinions.

As mentioned in this thread here:

They will release the source code once they have it.

I don't believe patriot are actually doing anything. They have said they *are* currently working firmware yet it's been a matter of months without any news. Very disappointing on Patriot's behalf as BadIntentions seems to have made more progress than patriot have in hours!
I'd love to hear what has even been done as my bet is nothing now they have agreed to releasing source code. My thanks goes out to BadIntentions for sharing his work on this unit to the community that own this product.

To be honest, I think that if they are taking this long to get the source code, then any actual changes they requested from the third party has been, and would take a lot longer. What im trying to say is I think the hold up is probably all in the 3rd party department. And i doubt that patriot will try and hack the device themselves :P

I wonder, when will a new version updated
Firmware for this device because it has serious problems, which fix
these
would be very interesting to have a publication date of the same, real, and where users need to find life to enjoy your purchase
slow copy between devices could be an outdated driver, like many of the problems with this device.
I bought this device wanting, and I see that I have the box connected to an
network does not perform more than the work be getting light and I do not see above
Site of, or even the necessary support, such as that provided in the
CD, in case of loss or distortion of the CD, we lose all kinds of
support.
would be very nice for the manufacturer to get into the server, the web
product, as most manufacturers make tools and other support
disk, in case of problems with the same availability of these tools
Therefore the torrent client, which is not able to download over 2GBs as mldonkey error that is not figured, where you can perform cleanups Peeper ip guardian
as I would be nice to have an updated date

traslator ingles
forgive the language, I'm Spanish and I have to translate a web translator because my English is not good
said that I bought this device wanting to use it, and I find some of the problems described in these forums, as the client does not download torrent files of more than 2 gbs, or simply the administration of mldonkey web is nonexistent, that goes away when you like, no other choice other than shut off button.
I think by the manufacturer, deserves a solution to fix all these bugs, and that does what it says on the box it says it does this device.
as p2p client leaves much to be desired, because their job does not meet the mldonkey no ip filters can be applied, nor is it possible to see anything but this is broken, for transfers of files between device and PC with 775 plates network in February 1000 and sata drives, the speed of it is that some put here to copy a DVD image as much is put to transferring to 12Mb / s, a team that seems inexpensive but first give me that economics end up expensive
I think if the manufacturer offers a software upgrade date, and this fixes the problem, we have a competitive team, without the users of the same life we have to get us to install alternatives that work for us not having to throw money

by the way, I forgot if you lose or scratch the CD that came with the device ... in case of breakage
What media is it? because of the web there is nothing more than a manual
Spain
por cierto se me olvidaba si pierdes o se te raya el cd que viene con el dispositivo... en caso de que se rompa
¿que soporte hay? ya que en la web del mismo no hay nada mas que un manual

I guess you didn't read the comments on Newegg.com cause I one egged it as soon as I realized it didn't function.

Waited and waited and waited for the Valkyrie to improve before buying one or two of them...
Alas, I now have a brand new LG N4B2N NAS with 4x2TB SATA drives and integrated Blu-Ray burner.
This thing rocks: dual core Intel CPU at 1.6GHz and 1GB of memory.
Initial trial with one HDD installed gave me a 38MB sustained transfert rate over the Gigabit network :p
Will install the other HDD in RAID 5 config this weekend and should get between 55 and 70MB/s transfert rate :D
More money than I wanted to spend but worth every penny...
($587 at Newegg without HDD)
I have one Hammer MyShare 1.5TB NAS for sale now (2 SATA)... You can expect to get 9 to 12MB/s sustained write speed and 15 to 18MB/s sustained read speed over a Gigabit Network.
End of March is here. Any news about firmware update?
