Hello Patriot Forums,
I've been in the NAS market for sometime now trying to decide and finally went with this due to the price point and design. Loving it so far but right away realized my first problem which is :
What is the best plan of action to transfer to the Valkyrie and continue to use RAID1. My problem is I have 1TB of data on the array otherwise I would just mount both drives, format, and be on my way. However that's not the case.
What I was thinking, I'm now doubting will work in the end. Here's my original thoughts :
option 1 -
insert one of the drives in the NAS, leave one in the PC
format the drive within the NAS to ext2
transfer all information from the PC drive to the NAS
then add the other drive to the NAS and enable RAID1
option 2 -
leave both drives in my PC
reformat one to ext2
transfer all data from the NTFS drive to the ext2 drive
place both drives in the NAS and enable RAID1
What do you think? I'm guessing the NAS needs to reformat regardless if your adding a disc and enabling RAID1 or using a previously formated ext2 formated drive.
Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.
