It is quicker for me to connect my hard drive to my pc and transfer files to it than use the network. I would then stream the movies/music to my PS3. However after serval times of switching the hard drive back and forth, some files have become corrupt. I use the function in windows to safely remove device in windows, but I can't see anything like this on the Gear Box. I wanted to know if there is a safe way to unplug the hard drive from the gearbox without corrupting data.

Thanks,

Nalman

does gearbox use buffers when writing to an attached disk ? unplugging the drive before stopping all processes that are writing to the disk and flushing the buffers could lead to data loss !

Is it enough to stop all torrents, disable all sharing services allowing write access and *then* unplug the disk ?
