PBO setup to spdiff raw and optical output to my receiver:
MKV with digital audio (DTS/Dolby Digital) plays fine. but when playing divx or any non digital audio movie, PBO needs to be switch to spdiff lpcm manually. Is there a way to do automatic switching? if not could this be modified in firmware to do autoswitching?

is this a known issue? I have a mix library of divx and mkv files and have to do a lot of setting switching...

Have you tried sending the audio thru the HDMI in RAW, and have your receiver pluged into the s/pdif output on the TV? This should work! I have not tested it as my PBO is hooked to a 23" 1080p with computer 2.1 speakers hooked into the headphone jack. My brother is planning on testing this though, just has not had time yet, just had a kid afew days ago.

Hi,

This is a WELL KNOWN issue that I brought to Patriot's attention on this forum early November 2009. But I'm kind of getting tired of the waiting games for the fix supposed to be in the "new firmware update".

I was one of the early member (early purchaser of the PBO) on this forum and participated often here. But like I said, I'm tire of the waiting game and don't bother to come here much any more.

I was one of the early member (early purchaser of the PBO) on this forum and participated often here. But like I said, I'm tire of the waiting game and don't bother to come here much any more.

Yup... we were supposed to have the firmware in late DEC (based on the beta), but havent heard of any news... I wish we could get updates at least.

FYI, the P02 beta is now the FINAL firmware release :rolleyes:
That said, Patriot said they are working on another firmware release for March 2010.

Hi,

Just wonder has the "HD format" issue fixed in the so called "FINAL" realeased or not? What issues from 'beta' that has been fixed in the "FINAL" ???

I flashed the beta when it was initial released (way back) but quickly flash back to the old version due to the constant HD format prompt. I have over 400 GB of media files that I don't want them to disappere by 'accident' (the kids and the wife also use the PBO).

As with previous posts - I have hundred of music video files that encoded using various audio format (mpeg; AC3; MP3; etc...) and the constant of switching between SPDIFF audio modes is driving me crazy - to the point that I don't even watch those music video any more (perhaps I will enjoy them on another media player).

I'm currently in the market for another media player that is better than the PBO. Patriot, please get your acts together and do something quick or you are going to miss more than another customer.

There is nothing fixed by the released "Final" because its the same beta, Patriot has just edited the "firmware thread post" to remove the word "beta", other than that this is the very same file (not an identical one .. its the same one).

I have confirmed this with Patriot CJ and also by doing CRC comparisons between the "Beta" and the "Final" (a single bit change would have made a CRC mismatch).
