View Full Version : FAT32 way more stable and fast than NTFS

I have had all sorts of trouble, not being able to connect, copy, slow access... It seems that re-flashing with FAT32 firmware is an universal cure. Either the NTFS firmware is too buggy, or the filesystem itself is too scary for lowly controller in Gearbox.
I regularly hit 11 MBps with FAT32, which is about theoretical limit of 100mbit connection. I don't want to return Gearbox now :) Let's see if it holds up.

Did you upgrade to the NTFS version and then go back ...Where did you get the older versions ???Can you make it availbale ???

I think I just realized that you are talking about the fat32 version of the 1.27 firmware. I wil, give that a try to see if it solves some of my other issues..

Yes, FAT32 version of the latest 1.27.

Print Server does not work in NTFS version. It does work in FAT32 version. Thats about all I had issues with so far. Glad you did the perfromance testing...I think I will stick with fat32 for now...
