Will Patriot be releasing a N wireless adapter? If not will another companies N wireless adapter function on the PBO?

Im sure like most they have found 1080P does not stream very well over G.

If not i guess a solution would be a N wireless bridge.

thanks

Thank you so much, your efforts are really appriciated (especially in the media players world). Can't wait to see the compatibility list.

I think a more interesting Q would be ..? what is the chipset oif the patriot G adapter ..?

some very popular N chipsets at the RAlink RT2870 and RT3070, any chance the PBO would be compatible with them ..?

I am recieving my PBO today, and the 2 wireless adapters mentioned above later this week, I will post whatever results available.

Thanks :)

that will be difficult to tell.. rosewell is owned by newegg, and they may or may not lock down the chip they use for their model. so some may work..some well.. not so much.

RT3070 DOESN'T WORK
Test adapter : Rosewill RNX-EasyN1
I can confirm that its not locked as it work on my desktop/laptop with a Trendnet Router and another Asus Router.

Can you give us the names of a couple that you have tested and works?

Some one on AVS confirmed that Patriot informed him that the chipset used is a REALTEK one.

Ditto :)

Would be nice to know at least a couple of adapters that Patriot has tested that will work....not looking for a guarantee, just a pointer....

I bought the USB wireless adapter ROSEWILL model RNX-N150UBE from Newegg.com on July 2010 for just $9.99 including free shipping
and it works well with my Patriot Box Office.
I can connect to either wireless G or N.

I can't seem to find specific info about the chipset online, but is there a specific rev. number printed on this adapter ?!

One of the reviewers (Roadkill) at Newegg said:

Pros: External antenna.

Has better signal strength than the Cisco/Linksys WUSB100 ethernet adapter which has an integrated antenna.

Cons: None other than it runs a little warm.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to know what chip this adapter uses, and did not want to install the Rosewill drivers that came with it - so I broke the plastic housing off. I don't care about warranty... I paid ten bucks for it.

It uses the Realtek RTL8188SU chip.

Another reviewer elsewhere said:

Uses a realtek RTL8188SU chip. Works with Windows 7 64 bit

Any other confirmations?

The realtek RTL8188SU is compatible for sure (it is R1T1), so if the adapter works and it runs in 150mbps as advertised then this is the chipset inside it for sure, which confirms with the newegg review you dug up, I was just concerned if there is a specific revision of the adapter that is compatible before deeming it fully compatible.
