I've just gotten the PBO unboxed and hooked up. I'm looking for a little guidance, as the documentation is on the sparse side. My setup is wireless and I want to attach to a NAS that has 1TB drive installed. All of this works fine when using a Vista Media Center notebook. I was hoping to free that up with the PBO.
I don't see a way to select any network shares. I have Login Control set to ON, which according to the documentation, should allow me to login. I'm assuming it is to log in via the PBO, rather than Internet explorer.
I'd seen on another post, someone mentioning going to the IP address and logging on. When I do that, I get a page that says "A Simple html+cgi example" and it will add 2 numbers I put in 2 boxes. The IP address I use matches that of the wireless setup under Network.
I hope that this will attach correctly to my NAS and I don't have to return the device. The NAS is a unix-based device that Vista Media Center sees fine. I do NOT have a USB drive or internal HDD attached to the PBO.
I would appreciate any help...

I am not sure if it got it.. so you would like to attach the PBO to your NAS?
the IE control panel for PBO is for BT only, so you WILL have to install an HDD. To access NAS you can view it under "NET" under "browse" however for file transfer you will have to have some storage device connect to the PBO, internal HDD, USB drive, USB HDD, etc.

I'm looking to avoid installing an HDD in the PBO.
When I select 'NET' and 'browse', but the NAS doesn't appear. I'm assuming that if I can access the NAS, I should be able to select a file and I will be able to view it as it streams to the TV.
If that's not the case, I made a bad purchase.. part of what happens when you ASSume something :)
If the streaming assumption is correct, do you have any guidance on what may be causing the NAS to NOT appear? The NAS (DNS-323) is attached via Hardwire to the home network, the PBO is attached via the wireless USB adapter and I can ping both from a Windows machine.

if it's on the same network, your PBO should be able to see your DNS 323.
1) check if your IP is in the same group
2) once PBO connect to your network, go to "NET" and look under your workgroup
3) your DNS 323 should be listed there. Proceed login as usual.

1.
check if your IP is in the same group are you referring to the same Windows WorkGroup? If so, I don't see where I indicate that on the PBO.
3.
Login as usual
Login to what? Would that login be for the DNS 323?

I tried going the wireless route only to find out that the adapter doesn't support 128 WEP encryption which is ridiculous. Once I turned off the security, I could connect to my network, but can't see my server. Can anyone Help!

I had stopped my router from broadcasting my SSID... turn it back on and PBO found it.
Now, just need to see if it will find it now that it's turned off again...

can you give us a little more infomration? the wifi should be able to support 128 WEP. if you can connect to your network, then you should be able to see connected network devices.

It will support WEP, as well as WPA/WPA2. Mine didn't work right off the bat, either, but it's fine now....dunno why.
Try unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in again. This has worked for me, and a few others. Again, dunno why, but hoping the good folks at Patriot will figure it out.

The PBO displays the error "INVALID FILE!!" when i browse to any bluray ISO on a NAS device. It displays the error "Bitstream Error, Stop Playback" or the screen remains blank when I select a bluray ISO to play.
The NAS device is a QNAP TS-659 Turbo NAS. I have tried with everything disabled but Microsoft Networking service on the NAS. I have also tried with NFS enabled.
I can access and browse shares on the NAS from the PBO, but I cannot play any of the bluray ISO files. I can play the files from an internal hard drive in the PBO when I copy the files to the internal drive from the NAS using the file copy feature on the PBO. The same ISO files play fine on the PBO over the network when I play them from a Windows 7 share. I can access the shares and play files on the NAS device from a Windows 7 PC.
I can play MP3s on the PBO from the NAS, so it can play some files from the NAS.
I'm running the latest PBO firmware and bootcode.
System Revision P020P02
Kernel Revision 265961
Bootcode 0001.0202.0018

Is your PBO wired to the network ? You will get the invalid file error if the transfer rate is too slow for the PBO to decode the file properly.
BTW .. if you are using NFS you might want to make sure that the PBO nfs mount is using "tcp" connection instead of "udp" (just add ",tcp" to the -o parameters)

Thanks aasoror. You bring up a good point I omitted.
I'm not using wireless. I have the PBO and the NAS connected to a Gigabit network. I assume what is the transfer rate is displayed when I browse to a file, bluray ISO or other file type. The transfer rates displayed have varied from 20,000 Kb/s to 40,000 Kb/s. This did seem a little slow for a 100Mb connection.
Is there something I could check on the PBO to see what speed and duplex it's connected to the network. Maybe it's not auto-negotiating properly with my switch. I'm using a D-Link 4-port Gb router that doesn't show the speed/duplex for individual ports.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, I did not look into to Blu-ray ISO until now. I used MagioISO to archive my Blu-rays to hard drive but I experienced very similar problems as mariolorenzo.
When I used P02, I got the "bitstream error" message.
When I used P05B, PBO seemed to be able to play the file but all I got was a black screen and no audio.
The ISO file is stored in the internal hard drive of the PBO so network speed is not an issue. The PBO is connected to a 720P plasma via HDMI. The plasma does not support 24p, I wonder if this is a problem.
Can anyone confirm that the PBO can indeed play Blu-ray ISO files? If so, I would like to know:
1. The firmware version of PBO.
2. How did you create your ISO files?
3. The setting of the TV, 1080i/60, 1080p/60 or 1080p/24.
Thank you

This is exactly your problem. The BR (retail) needs to be decrypted while copying, MagicISO will create an exact copy which will still carry the encryption (thus wont play).
Try ripping using AnyDVD, I can confirm that decrypted ISOs created using AnyDVD are playable on P02, and all the "you know which" patched firmware versions.
