Hi,
I am thinking of getting one this week and one of the main feature that I love is the ability to use an internal 2.5" SATA HD. I have a few of questions regarding this feature that I can not find any where:
- What is the largest capacity of the HD (in Gb) that this product support? What type of SATA (I/II/III) ?
- What file format support (FAT32 and/or NTFS)?
- Can the unit format the HD or need to format it via a PC?
- Can filecopy function work for NTFS (if support). Others products can only do in FAT32 file system?
- Can HDMI connector function as a passthrough (both audio & video) to tv or receiver.
- Can I use S/PDIF for audio along with HDMI for video only?
Thank you.

Hello,
What is the largest capacity of the HD (in Gb) that this product support? What type of SATA (I/II/III) ?
Up to 1TB/ SATAII
- What file format support (FAT32 and/or NTFS)?
Both Fat32/ NTFS
- Can the unit format the HD or need to format it via a PC?
The unit can format the HD or you have the option of installing a pre-loaded HD formatted via PC as well
- Can filecopy function work for NTFS (if support). Others products can only do in FAT32 file system?
Yes, supports large file (over 4GB) file transfer
- Can HDMI connector function as a passthrough (both audio & video) to tv or receiver.
Yes, HDMI 1.3 devices only, or use SPDIF
- Can I use S/PDIF for audio along with HDMI for video only?
Yes, you can. Example would be using a HDMI switch which does not take AUDIO

Very nice... Deleting files is very important.. Also does this device have a sleep mode? like 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes?

at the moment no, but the device draws VERY little power.

I hope you don't mind me using this post to ask my questions.... =)
Will this device be supporting .FLV format?
Also... Is there a way to hide hidden directories? I hate that I see recycle bin & system restore folders from windows

Both Fat32/ NTFS
I have found it also supports linux file systems (as it should). I have an external formatted ext3 that works just fine, I haven't tried ext4 yet.

Franky...
The Masscool media player claims that it plays FLV, so I assume that the Patriot one would. They are the exact same box, it seems. See here: http://www.patriotmem.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2113
and in response to your "system folders" question, I just deleted them. The box doesn't need them...or at least it doesn't appear to for now. :o

I have a hard disk with a Linux Ext3 partition full of pvr movies from a Viewsat box that I was hoping to be able to use when I got My Box Office. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see that partition. I can see the fat32 on the same drive just fine. What do I need to do?
When connecting the Box Office to my LCD tv's hdmi, don't get any sound. "TVSystem" displays "480P". It's not the tv cause other devices hdmi works fine.
Lastly, why no support for trp file format?
Thanks.

You'd need to probably do a telnet in and manually try to mount the ext3 partition and see if it is accessible then. On the sound use the different passthru and so forth options and see if that works....some tvs have hdmi ports that don't pass audio as well.

Thanks for giving me hope. Pls elaborate on how to "telnet in" or where I can find info.

Look in the network tab in setup and see what your ipaddress is on the pbo and then you need to use a system that is telnet compatible to connect and login to the pbo.
If you have win7 it is in the windows components to add telnet client.
Open command line window and do:
c:>telnet ipaddress
it will ask for login id which is root and no password just goes to a # prompt.
type command mount which will show what is mounted on the system and post that here as well as do a cat /proc/partitions and post that here as well.

Do it also do this with WiFi or does it have to be ethernet?
Thanks in advance

One more question. I noticed when I pause a movie it does not give me the time that has elapsed and the time remaining like the WD player does. It there a function on this to let me know this?
Thanks
One more question, shouldn't it go to screen saver when you pause a movie after a certain time if you have screen saver turned on?

Try updating to the latest firmware and see if that fixes your problem.
For the txt2vobsub, there are settings to change font size, color and location.

It might be Muxing mode : Packed bitstream
You can "unpack" this video using MPEG4Modifier or avidemux
This is a fairly quick process and does not involve re-encoding
