Hi,

I don't know who all reads these forums, but I thought I would post.

I got 2 Torqx 128GB drives a little over a week ago and RAID 0'd them together and installed Win 7 on them. They were working fairly fine until today, when I came home from work and there was no explorer showing. I restarted and my RAID controller didn't find one of the SSD's present, so obviously windows didn't load. I restarted again and it said BOTH SSD's weren't present. I then put each of them, one at a time into another computer as a secondary storage drive, and they weren't recognized there, either. I also tried other SATA drives with the SATA ports and cables on my main machine and they ARE recognized, so it's definitely a problem with the SSD's.

I then put the jumper on a drive and put it back into my main machine, and the RAID controller did pick it up as that "YADAPTONG BAREFOOT ROM". I put in another drive with an OS on it and booted it up and tried to flash the SSD BIOS even though it came with 1571 on it, and got an error, as expected, I then turned the computer off, took the jumper off, restarted the computer, and the RAID controller then said the drive wasn't present again.

So basically, the SSD's are no longer recognized by TWO different computers, but are recognized as the BAREFOOT ROM when the jumper is on (which is worthless since that's only for Firmware flashing). Is there something I can do to get these back in working order, or do I just need to RMA them (I'm still under newegg's 30-day replacement warranty)?

Thanks for any help anyone can give!

I also had a 2 drive RAID 0 array. In my case, only one of the drives appears to have failed. I can put it in another machine with the jumper installed (as you have described), and get the machine to recognize the drive for flashing...but neither of my machines see the drive without the jumper on.

Did you get any resolution?

I'm having the same problem and it looks like a lot of other people are too. What is going here, anyone know?

I would email us at support@patriotmem.com if you're outside your vendor's exchange period to initiate the RMA process as soon as possible.

No phone support though huh? I tried the phone few days ago and have not heard back. I call several times with no answer as well.... 10 year warranty means nothing without a good customer support center.

I would also like to contribute to this thread and say that I have never been able to get a raid array to work for an extended period of time. At least not rock stable. Even on a standard HDD setup. I would blame the raid controller first. I also, will not be setting up raid on my 2 $220 ssd's.

No, I never got any help from anyone, I just RMA'd them with newegg and got new ones. I also replaced my mobo with a new one because i had been wanting to for a long time now, and RMA'd my graphics card and RAM (because I think the mobo messed them up). I had been using an old crappy vid card until today when I got my replacement, and after I put it in, ONE of my SSD's now fails to get recognized in BIOS. One still does. This was in IDE mode as well, not even RAID, nor did I have a RAID set up anymore. And the drive WORKED FINE right before I powered my machine off to install the vid card. I even ran the TRIM utility on both drives just yesterday. As soon as i installed the vid card (ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2) and turned the comp back on, one SSD was no longer being recognized. I plugged different power into it, power that works on the other SSD, i switched out SATA cables and switched up the port it's plugged into on the motherboard, still nothing. I'm about to clear the CMOS to see if that helps anything, but I'm guessing it's not going to...

Nope, it didn't. that's 3 unrecognized SSD drives now...

And also, when I turn on RAID support and go into its config in BIOS, it finds the torqx that works and says like Torqx 128GB etc etc with some crazy weird non ASCII characters following it, which makes me think the 4th one is probably going to die soon, too.

These are turning out to be a GREAT BUY!!! (/sarcasm)

Patriot really seems to have some sort of problem on their hands with these drives dying every 2 or 3 weeks... at least that's been what I've been experiencing since purchasing these.

Switch to ahci and reinstall. I had this issue too and that is how I fixed it. Things run fine now. Funny, because I was told the opposite...

What power supply do you have?

Your video card, RAM and drives die?
