Hey I have a 16 GB xporter xt (it has a rubber casing, I cant find any model number or anything) formatted exFAT. When I am transferring files I get some weird behavior. It will transfer one file really quickly and then it seems to hang for a bit, then it transfers the next file really quickly, then it hangs and so forth until it is finished. I have been transferring files in the 100-400 MB range. It seems like something might be wrong but I thought it might be a product of using exFAT.
Thanks
Adam

So I guess this mysterious problem is just some kind of unfixable defect with xporter XT with no known solution. So what now? RMA?

Sorry, might have missed this thread.
Have you applied the driver update package from MS?

I am running Vista so it shouldnt be an issue. I could see if the behavior is the same with other formattings.

How long of a delay are you experiencing? I know sometimes even when transferring files in the 5-10mb range a usb can have a lag in detecting the transfer.
Are all of your Windows patches updates, usb drivers up to date?
It's only in exfat format that these large transfers lag? Ntfs transfers smoothly?
I can recommend a low level format tool to try and factory reset things back.
You'd have to format it back to exfat if that's the format you want to choose.
To be honest, I'm not too familiar with exfat. I can forward your inquiry to our flash engineers to shed some light if you'd like.

It does it with NTFS as well. Its not a super long delay, typically 20-30 seconds per file when I was transferring ~200 MB files, but it adds up.

I can send you a low level format tool to refresh everything to factory default.
If you have a faulty drive this might alleviate the problem.
I'll check with our Engineers to see if this is normal.

I just ran into the same problem. My 8gb XT was doing fine on FAT transfering 100mb files then now it had a fit of not registering wehn i plug it in.
after6 or so tries it registered as patriot drive on vista up to date.
Now I'm getting a big slow down when transfering, seems to stall between files.
